Peeved Portland, Ore., officials plan to drain millions of gallons of treated drinking water from a city reservoir after a teenager was caught on surveillance cameras taking a brazen bathroom break.
The unnamed 19-year-old was captured urinating through the iron fence at the Mount Tabor Reservoir just after 1 a.m. Wednesday, water bureau officials said. Two others with him, ages 18 and 19, were also caught trying to scale a fence.
The unsavory act has prompted officials to decide to flush 38 million gallons of drinking water or the equivalent of 57 Olympic-sized swimming pools. Generally, urine in such a large volume of treated water poses little risk to the public, and even animals are known to answer the call of nature into the reservoir, which gets its water from the Bull Run watershed.

Now it makes sense. I was getting nowhere googling that.
Ugly, yes. But urine’s sterile and nonpoisonous; and it can’t be the only nitrogen in the pond.
Perhaps they could burn their forests down because we know where bears poop.
Fish urinate about 40 times their body weight every day.
I’d be more worried about the radiation coming from Japan.
Blame the ambulance chasing lawyers ready to pounce - not the water agency.
How many thousands of times has someone done that without being seen on camera or anywhere else?
People love bee vomit - they buy it by the jar and even feed it to their babies.
So what’s a half pint of yellow water in an 18 million gallon lake?
Does it taste anything like Lark's Vomit?
They also need to replace all the pipes that feed into everyone's homes. Those are dirty, too.
what about the fish? they pee in the water. OMG the entire ocean has to be drained because of whale poop!
We should just ban all the water and eject it into space.
It’s the only way to be sure.
I suppose that no fish, duck or goose has ever taken a dump in this pristine water reservoir.
Oh ok, so right after they sanitize it, some other kid does a selfie doing the same thing. They drain it again. Oh, and where are they sending this water?
Good point.
It’s not potable water. It is a reservoir for water that is processed through the water treatment plant before it goes into the system. There are plenty of birds and other animals polluting the reservoir water every day.
Parts per billion is more like it.
Maximum bladder volume = 300 ml
One full bladder = 300ml/3785ml = 0.0793 Gallon
0.0793 gallon / 38,000,000 gallons = 2.085 X 10-9

The imbeciles who believe that
are the same (dishonest) imbeciles who believe that
Are going to simultaneously roast and drown us...
- It is fortunate that fish, birds, beaver, otters, bears, foxes, etc. never excrete their waste solids and liquids in, above, or anywhere near lakes, rivers, streams, reservoirs
- By the way - do fish magically disappear when they die?
- They need to be more worried for Jesse “Baby Daddy” Jackson spitting in their food.
From the article posted yesterday.

The open reservoirs hold water that has already been treated and goes directly
into mains for distribution to customers.
