Ted Cruz faces 2016 skeptics in South Carolina

CHARLESTON, S.C. — It didn’t take much for Ted Cruz to bring a crowd of conservatives to its feet here.

By the time the Texas Republican senator finished speaking Tuesday night, an adoring audience hailed Cruz and his no-compromise, combative style of conservatism that has made him the scourge of the GOP establishment but a hero of the tea party.

“Liberty is under assault today like never before,” Cruz said, pacing the stage like a televangelist.

But even in deep-red South Carolina, a well-received speech full of Cruz’s signature flair is no guarantee that the firebrand politician could win the early primary state in a run for his party’s presidential nomination in 2016.

The Republican Party here, as in many other states, has many factions. And in interviews with activists and GOP leaders across the state, a common theme emerges: Cruz can clearly energize the far right, but he has yet to demonstrate he can pull together the necessary coalition of business-minded Republicans, libertarians, social and fiscal conservatives and moderate-leaning voters who are eager to see a Republican win the White House come 2016.

“Electability — that will be his challenge,” said Republican Lindsey Graham, South Carolina’s senior senator. “He’s got to show he can put the patchwork together.”

This article was written by Politico - how the hell would they even know what conservatives like those in SO Carolina would feel? The article twists what was certainly a great night for Ted Cruz into questioning whether conservatives would feel about him?

I wish they would have sent Leigh Munsil to do the article: she covers military stuff for them and comes from a long line of REAL CONSERVATIVES...a true voice in an otherwise liberal bastion!

Reagan had electability. So did W. We need a conservative who can win the center without giving up his or her principles. Cruz may be that guy. Time will tell.

The GOP tries for the moderates and independents on both sides, and would love to get the far left, and despise the right

Cruz appeals to the right, will appeal to anyone with a brain that works. That leaves out the libs. He can get all the moderates and even the far left who think more tha reactionary libs

Watch out

Rand Paul seems to be spending a lot of words trying to convince them that he is electable.

Example : He would re-phrase Jeb Bush statement on illegals acting out of ‘love’

Lets see if a warm and fuzzy Ted Cruz appears to compete with it.

Unlike Slick Willie's wife who has people taking the shoes off their feet and sailing them towards her. LOL!

Cruz and his no-compromise, combative style of conservatism

I am still waiting for an example of this. He is neither unwilling to compromise, nor combative.

Lindy McGrahamesty’s main man squeeze wasn’t born on American soil either, but I’m 100% positive McGrahamnesty support McStain for president without even a whimper.

Ted Cruz was born to a 100% qualified American mother living temporarily in Canada. He’s every bit as qualified to be president of the USA as Panama born McStain. Even more so, because, unlike McStain and his buttboy McGrahamnesty, Ted Cruz is a loyal American patriot who loves Liberty and defends the U.S. Constitution to the hilt!!

Why are people suddenly giving Lindsay Graham FEMALE names?

Do you know something that isn’t explicitly made public? :)

LOL. Planted article at pollutico, flop sweating over the potential of a President Ted Cruz ....

The misleading headline, which contradicts the content of the article:

Ted Cruz faces 2016 skeptics in South Carolina

By the time the Texas Republican senator finished speaking Tuesday night, an adoring audience hailed Cruz and his no-compromise, combative style of conservatism that has made him the scourge of the GOP establishment but a hero of the tea party.

I've got whiplash pollutico, which is it? Skeptics or adorers?

“Electability — that will be his challenge,” said Republican Lindsey Graham, South Carolina’s senior senator. “He’s got to show he can put the patchwork together.”

Aha! So the skeptic is Lady Lindsey?! The mini-me to the AZ senile senator who called Senator Cruz a whacko-bird?! Surely you can come up with a more objective skeptic?!

Rep. Mick Mulvaney said the Texas senator “fell flat” and “missed an opportunity” to show he can lead the country and the party out of the political wilderness when he spoke last May in Columbia, S.C., at the Silver Elephant Dinner.

“It was the same old, same old,” said Mulvaney, a Republican who represents the northern part of the state and was elected in the tea party wave of 2010. “It’s the same thing you see on Fox News every single night. I guess that’s fine for a certain segment of the Republican primary base in South Carolina ...

Who is this turkey? He sounds like a northeast liberal not the tea party wave. Slamming Fox News like a liberal ... in South Carolina?! Isn't he aware that Newt Gingrich won South Carolina primary in 2012?!

Total FAIL by the pollutico team. Very entertaining.
