Say what you will about former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, but dont you dare accuse of him of being modest.
The New York Times reported Tuesday that Bloomberg plans to spend $50 million of his estimated $31 billion fortune this year to combat the National Rifle Association. Speaking of his advocacy of liberal causes like gun-control and preventing New Yorkers from enjoying Big Gulp sodas, Bloomberg told the Times, reportedly with a grin, I am telling you if there is a God, when I get to heaven Im not stopping to be interviewed.
I am heading straight in, he went on. I have earned my place in heaven. Its not even close.
In pursuing his self-professed heavenly mission to fight gun rights, Bloomberg says he plans to be ruthless in opposing politicians who refuse to fall in line on the issue.
They say, We dont care. Were going to go after you, he told the Times, speaking of the NRA. If you dont vote with us were going to go after your kids and your grandkids and your great-grandkids. And were never going to stop.
Weve got to make them afraid of us, he reasoned.
But as the Times notes, Mr. Bloomberg has already spent millions of dollars trying to persuade members of Congress to support enhanced background check laws with virtually nothing to show for it.
The $50 million dollar commitment, however, takes his anti-gun advocacy to the next level. As a comparison, the Times reports that the NRA spent less than half as much on its gun rights advocacy last year.

God: OK since you think you deserve to get in, let’s compare your sins with your good deeds and see which number is greater.
no one earns their place in heaven - Christ did that.
What a dummy.
I seriously had to look to see if this was the “semi-satire” guy.
This proves my thesis on the liberal belief in
“advocacy-based righteousness”.
It’s twice removed from real, imputed righteousness given by the Blood of Christ.
This is even more removed than the more common belief in “works-based righteousness”, where your “good deeds” earn your righteousness.
This “advocacy-based righteousness” is “don’t even look what I’ve DONE, look at what I said SHOULD BE DONE.”
Have no concern for my love and use of The Word, my FRiend.
That’s what I tell a person in my life that believes in works and advocacy based righteousness -
how do you know how much your deeds and advocacy are worth
and how do you know how much your sins cost?
How do you know when one outweighs the other?
You’re betting eternity on this.
I am telling you if there is a God, when I get to heaven Im not stopping to be interviewed. I am heading straight in,...
This kind of talk exemplifies reprobate mentality. All you have to do is read about the various Old Testament leaders in the Bible . . .so go the leaders, so go the nations. . .we can already see we are in deep trouble unless the children of God come to their senses and ask for mercy and forgiveness to turn this train wreck around.
I guess he is too stupid to read. The Bible does not say that and it is stated so in more than one place.
Not only that, there are sins of omission:
“Bloomberg, how many times did you refuse to help someone in need? Not sure? Well let’s see all of the times here on the screen”.
And sins of the heart:
“Bloomberg, don’t forget, we can see what is in your heart. Let’s look at all the times you lusted in your heart and mind. This may take awhile so get comfortable. “
Even the “simple people” might be put off by such an arrogant remark.
Ummm, I believe it’s not your call, Bloomy.
Babylon
I am sure he doesn't read or believe the "first book" either.
Jesus said, "...for if you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me. But if you believe not his writings, how will you believe my words?" (John 6:46,47)
Slightly reworked Bloomberg quote:
I am telling you I am God, when I get to heaven Im not stopping to be interviewed. I am heading straight in. I have earned my place as ruler of heaven. Its not even close.
I'm waiting for the part where King Bloomie is struck down, eaten by worms, and dies.
This is the exact example of the parable leading to a conclustion that it is harder for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven than for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle.
I hope he is met at the pearly gates by the millions of souls of the aborted.....
Who really cares of the minimal ‘worth’ of works or deeds?
The ‘cost’ of sin, even one, was the life and suffering and death of Jesus. Too enormous to begin to comprehend.
Weve got to make them afraid of us, he reasoned.”
Said every tyrant in history.
The folks I would present this argument to don’t think they need Jesus, but can do it on their own.
I’m trying to show them the futility and the eternal risk with that and get them to the point where they will cry out for mercy to the Lord, because there is no other way.
