A new online poll found that Americans just are not interested in the the World Cup, which is the world's top sporting event.
According to the poll, "two in three Americans do not plan to follow this year's tournament," only "7 percent said they anticipated following it closely," 86 percent of Americans "said they either know nothing or only a little bit about the World Cup, and more than two-thirds did not know Brazil is the 2014 host nation."

And right you are.
Any wonder why this country is in deep doo-doo?
Stanley Cup of futbol?
Fun fact. Stanley Park in Liverpool is named for the same Lord Stanley of the Stanley Cup. Stanley Park is between Anfield and Goodison Park, ie Liverpool FC and Everton.
Super Bowl XLVI, in 2012, was the most watched big game in the history of the NFL. The match, which pitted the NY Giants against the New England Patriots, drew around 111.5 million viewers. When you consider how (relatively) few people outside of North America care about American football, thats a proportionally huge number of folks tuning in to watch the Pats lose.
“Soccer is just hockey — hockey without the ice, the skates, the sticks, the pucks, the speed, the blood, and the errant tooth.”
Hockey isn’t hockey without those things so I don’t see how soccer is hockey when you’ve made hockey no longer hockey.
“My nephew is a fantastically talented soccer player. He also happens to be a staunch conservative. He’s no pussy. (And he has all his teeth!)”
Wait until you find out he’s gay. Yes, I’m just kidding.
“If you really see soccer as a link to the decline of American culture, then you have missed some *REALLY* big elephants in the room.”
Nope. Not a one. I didn’t say soccer caused it. I said soccer is “somehow linked to the decline of culture in America.”
360 million globally watch the UEFA Champions League final.
Brazil being Brazil, and being the home team... It will be a huge upset if they don’t win.
Another possibility, if Liverpool hangs on to win the League, their owner, John Henry, will have gained a World Series and a Premiership championship in less than one year. If anybody did not know, Liverpool and the Boston Red Sox have the same owner. Arsenal shares ownership with the Denver Nuggets and the Avalanche. Man United and the Tampa Bay Bucs. Fulham and the Jacksonville Jaguars, boy is that fitting. Aston Villa and the Cleveland Browns, until Lerner sold the Browns.
Uruguay won it last time it was held in Brazil.
And if Luis Suarez plays to form, who’s to say Uruguay can’t win it again.
Spain? Holland?
I believe no European team has ever won in the Americas and vice versa.
At the height of it's popularity, the TV show "House ( MD )" also has a billion viewers worldwide. Liked the show but wasn't put out by those who didn't.
Brazil won in Sweden in 1958.
I stand corrected.
It seems to me that on these type of threads, those who do not like the show are put out by those who do.
What’s the World’s Cup?
Soccer has always been the prissy euro sport. Even more gay than cross country and badminton.
The real action takes place in the stands when you have all those liquored up fans. They were driven to drink from the boredom.
Anyways the boozed up bozos start fighting and before you know you have a riot
Meanwhile the score on the field is an exciting 0-0 in the final period
What is the worlds cup?
2 out of 3 sounds low to me.
If you see rugby union you will know what a real sport is. NFL is just as silly as soccer compared to rugby.
