Im missing the justification for this. Are there endangered turtles or something?
Oh my gosh , good one! :-)
Sending in troops is not even in the US contingency plans as an option. That would be the worst response.
The second worst response would be to ignore the reality and do nothing.
It’s time to shoot the Bear with a bean bag and make him feel the pain. We have many options.
Yeah, why don’t all you caring liberals volunteer to fight in the Ukraine?
Sorry about lack of food for troops but we gotta make sure DHS, etc has plenty of resources to stop right wing militia groups /s
When the average family can afford groceries and gasoline again with a few bucks a month left over, then maybe it would make sense to do for the Europeans what they should do for themselves.
I say we tell the Ukrainians, "If you like your country, you can keep it", and offer ammo along with more veggie MREs. In fact, just cutoff military aid to the Paks and every other Muzzie country then send it to the Ukraine. That's a fat wad of cash and equipment without costing an extra dime.
I don't understand the weird, juvenile schoolyard taunts. Do you go after Mafia kingpins or fight wildfires on a volunteer basis? That's why we pay taxes, so that people we employ with those taxes perform their specified duties. As citizens and the military's paymasters, we collectively decide what those duties ought to be, and this debate is all about what they ought to be doing.
Unlike civilian trade and government income interests, our infantry would love a gas fight with Russians. It probably won’t happen soon, though. That’s usually reserved for action during and after the nuclear exchange that will eventually be started by the Russians.
Get them, the New York Slimes, the Chicago Tribune and the rest of the MSM and they can all follow John McCain, the biggest war monger in the history of Congress.

The issue isn't whether you should sign up with Putin's invaders or I should sign up with Ukraine's patriots - it's whether Russian territorial ambitions should be stopped here or much later on, when the costs will be much higher. The lesson of Munich is tumors should be excised before they metastasize.
>Because the Russians are literally on the march
If you head on over now you can beat the rush to snuff out all the “crotch sniffing Putin lovers”. Let us know when they start marching on US territory and we will worry about it then.
Meanwhile people can stock up on used tires to keep the town squares warmed up.

Problem is...most don’t see where a direct confrontation with Russia doesn’t eventually involve nukes....whether we act now, or later.
Don’t expect that you are conversing with people who have the perspective of history and comprehend the concepts of coercive force and appeasement.
You are dealing with mostly the Alex Jones crowd here who thought the Boston police and federal authorities were much too strong-handed in tracking down some terrorists...
But at the same time think Russia’s land-grab into Crimea and now the follow up operation to have a logistical bridge through Eastern Ukraine is just peachy.
There is some serious useful idiot isolationism and hypocrisy going on here.
So, you ain't goin' but you want someone else to.
Same as the brave guys were tickled to see me off to VN then go back to their college fun and games.
Some people are all hat and no cattle.
Nice hat
You are completely full of it. The fact that our taxes might be paying for military pay does NOT give us some sort of right to send them off as modern day mercenaries. The military is for the defense of OUR country, not people halfway across the world in a place most Americans couldn’t find on the map.
Brilliant idea! You're not from Boston, are you?
>>Yes, I think the Walpo editorial board should go establish a beach head right now. Call when you get there.
I think we could generate quite a collection for plane tickets for that here at FR.
It might surprise you to hear this, but that's the way governments work. Soldiers don't decide where they feel like fighting. If you want to decide what battles you want to fight, don't sign up for the military. If you want to play with the latest hardware and pick your own battles, plan a coup in Pago Pago and establish yourself as head honcho. Then you can play to your heart's content.
You’re right. People who are obviously more refined and discerning such as yourself should decide where our troops spill their blood. May we beg your forgiveness for daring to questioning your judgement in such matters?
