A Twitter user thought to be a teenage girl has received unwanted notoriety after she sent a terrorism-themed message to American Airlines. (snip)
The girl – who identified herself as a 14-year-old named Sarah in her now-suspended Twitter account – sent this tweet to American Airlines' @americanair account Sunday morning.
"hello my name's Ibrahim and I'm from Afghanistan. I'm part of Al Qaida and on June 1st I'm gonna do something really big bye."
American responded, saying: "Sarah, we take these threats very seriously. Your IP address and details will be forwarded to security and the FBI."

According to a tweet sent out by Rotterdam police in the Netherlands, the girl has been arrested.

Don’t get mad at me. It is the post-9/11 reality.
Like I said, say that while boarding. You will miss your flight and might never be allowed to travel on that airline again. Even if the “something big” was to propose on the flight.
Just like you can’t say “That movie? What a bomb!” on a plane.

When you say you're from Afghanistan and part of Al Qaeda (correct spelling) followed up by "something big" the implication of that something being a terrorist attack is hardly a stretch.

Chick was at home, not boarding, and she issued no actual threat. This 'case' will be dismissed but the kids life will be upside down for a while anyways.

Posting to an airline is the same as boarding. That is reality.
I agree she won’t see charges but she might not be able to fly on any airline for a long time (if ever).
Hard to say what the fallout will be but it won’t be good for her.

Then tell me how this is a radical distortion of reality when they let you out on bail between your arraignment and imprisonment.
That is because the planet has gone quite insane, and reality is whatever authorities declare it is at that moment.

The best predictor for future behavior is recent past behavior. That the authorities have reacted in an insane fashion recently, tells me they would react the same with me in that future.
So, she's not boarding a plane. Not scheduled to board a plane. Makes no specific threat whatsoever. ARRESTED.
