“Jon Stewart would have been a better choice that Steven Colbert.”
Stewart is far more valuable to the left where he is. He can do and say things there, that he would NEVER get by with on National Network Television.
Advertisers would be terrified to support the show, out of fear of boycotts and bad press for his schtick.
It will be the same with Colbert, I think.
Yes, I think Stewart is, for what it’s worth, funnier than Colbert, and actually occasionally capable of bi-partisan humor.
For what it is worth I just like Stewart’s Old school Catskill style better than Colbert’s style.
I would assume that either of these guys will have to get to be more middle of the road in a traditional late night format.
On cable they can be more partisan.
Only change is that the internet (and "crazed bigot-racist-homophobe-warmonger-rich yadadada" folks hanging around places like FR) are here to point out the cracks in the facade.
Personally, I consider them to be a bigger threat to this country than ANYTHING, and have ever since....oh, about the time I started reading. (...don't ask.)
I know many here thought Leno was a big lib, but he was successful because he did try to be balanced.
The job demands it.
You can not alienate half of the audience on a regular basis.
Interesting. I really thought Rush would’ve led off with the BLM/Reid fiasco. Maybe he’ll talk about in the next hour?
I think most conservatives only ask for balance—whether it be in comedy or news media coverage.
The libs, on the other hand, demand total control. That’s why they freak out over FoxNews, the ONE major network that (apparently, at least) leans right.
Humor is never funny if it is not balanced.
It gets mean if it is unbalanced.
Hi all,
Bear with me-having to work and lurk today-can’t listen. Has Rush commented on the Bundy standoff last weekend? I would be interested in hearing his take on it. I was hoping TGO would have commented on it more than he did last friday. Sometimes I wonder if talk radio guys aren’t a bit skittish talking about near revolt behavior by American citizens.
One of the reasons Rush is so popular is that he has a sense of humor.
Rush is not mean spirited.
He is one of the few people in the world that is able to be opinionated without being mean spirited.
It’s a tough gig.
With Mark Levin being out tonight and I have to be out myself tonight, I am having C_H setting up the thread.
Chicago’s tuning-up for the “2014 Murder Capital USA” title: 36 shot, 4 dead.
Nice job, lib-dems.
Nothing yet.
I admit I know nothing of the Bundy Ranch affair.
I have found it a bit complicated to sort out. So many ins and out and elements to this situation-all wrapped up in a legal puzzle. That is why I was hoping to get TGO’s legal opinion on it.
I heard this AM on the radio that the Bundy Ranch was running a lot of unbranded cattle.
I don’t know what is going on.
I know a guy who’s ranch just got whacked by a tornado.
He had no insurance because he was denied it due to federal regulations regarding him sell in raw milk.
Really? You can’t get insurance because you sell raw milk?
Our Gov is out of control.
