It has been years since I was at a movie. I plead ignorance.
I have never heard of a movie called Casino.
But yes, it is common knowledge that Reid is Mafia Connected.
The movie came out in the 1990s and is based on Frank “Lefty” Rosenthal’s activities in Las Vegas and the Mafia’s involvement in gaming in Las Vegas.
Ah, I was correct in my recollection.
“Frank Rosenthal did have a hearing with the Nevada Gaming Control Board. Furthermore, he argued with the chairman, the current Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, and was denied a gaming license. In 1988, he was officially put in the Black Book (List of Persons Excluded from Licensed Gaming Establishments in the State of Nevada). -Las Vegas Sun”
If you have a TV and a DVD player you should immediately go out and rent “Casino.” It stars Robert DeNiro, Sharon Stone, and Joe Pesci and is an only moderately fictionalized account of the downfall of the Las Vegas Mafia. It’s a great movie, one of the classics, and, along with the lurid stuff, shows how the casino business worked, and works, to fleece its customers, get them to like it, and get them to come back for more. You might also be able to get some old History Channel reruns to show what the actual history was. You’ll be surprised how close the movie stays to the history.
