PORTSMOUTH, N.H. -- Tennessee Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn will consider running for president in 2016 -- if she sees an opportunity to do so, an aide to the 7th District Republican told RealClearPolitics. Blackburn is scheduled to be one of the speakers at a New Hampshire Republican rally this weekend but was not previously known to be mulling a White House bid.
"If there's a door to kick down, she's willing to kick it down," the aide, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said. "These are the kinds of events you go to -- test the waters, and see what the reaction is."

She looks guilty enough for that
I love Marsha and have spoken with her. She’s a solid conservative.
I’d rather she ran for the Senate so we could have a conservative senator in Tennessee.
I agree, but she would have a hard time against Lamar dollar-wise. And there’s another primary opponent, George Flinn, who has a lot of cash as well. In a three-way, it would probably be Lamar, and a loss in 2014 would deflate her chances in 2016.
I rather like her, too, but she’s a farking idiot if she’s trying to use an anonymous house seat as a platform for running for president! In my lifetime, dozens of house MERE members have run for president. NONE break 2 or 3% in the early races, unless they have some further claim to authority, such as being speaker (Gingrich, Gephard), or some higher office.
Although I respect and appreciate what Mrs. Blackburn has done for Tennessee, her endorsement and co-chir of the progressive RINO, Lamar Alexander’s re-election is a deal breaker for me.
Perhaps She has become one of the establishment politicians that she claims to fight against.
Sounds like she has a plan, then, to get national exposure...for future options.
‘do not OWN a cell’...geez.
Think VP. This may mean Cruz has selected her.
She’s my critter
Usually votes right
But in a word....no
. . . And there are a couple of other candidates in the Lamar primary in addition to the ones I mentioned. I think she ought to keep her eye on 2016.
If that’s true, I’d like to hear more, although I think she is actually seek attention for a VP slot.
Just curious: Why are there NO good-looking liberals?
Compromise is just surrender on an installment plan :)
Surely you jest.
A great congresswoman to be sure....but she will get as far as Michele Bachmann. She has has practically 0% voter ID outside her district.
Thinking the same thing too. She doesn’t have name recognition now but getting the VP nod changes the equation for her. She obviously has presidential ambitions.
I can go for that.
She too busy working to re-elect one of them idiots.
