I smell a recall election: One-thousand brothers in blue came to pay their respects this afternoon to Officer Alexander Thalmann, 22, killed in the line of duty in New Bern, N.C., last week.
Thalmanns partner, Officer Justin Wester, 23, is recovering from a gunshot wound to his leg from the shootout that left convicted felon, Bryan Stallings, 35, dead.
The incident happened March 28, in the housing projects known as Craven Terrace. The towns grief was made even more painful by the local administrations handling of events following the young officers death.
For unknown reasons, newly elected, Mayor Dana Outlaw chose to attend Thursdays funeral of the career criminal.
Adding insult to injury, last nights planned memorial for local citizens to say goodbye to Alexander Thalmann was cancelled by the mayors office.
It was alleged that two of the citys aldermen had invited relatives of the killer to attend the vigil. Rather than rescind the invitation, the city chose to cancel the event.
Officer Thalmanns death seems to have had a greater impact on the mourning residents of New Bern than the mayor.
Did you notice whats missing? Did you see it?
What is Mayor Outlaws party affiliation?
You guessed it. Democrat.
Thanks. It’s as we knew.
Disgusting. I pray God visits this scumbag “Mayor”. Rest In Peace Officer Thallman.
Is that t b e mayor of the perp?
A white mayor goes to the funeral of a black thug who murders a white police officer by shooting him in the face instead to the victims funeral?
How “liberal” is that?
Guilt tripping, racist, white “liberals” have no limits to their idiocy.
Healing of what?
Dana E. Outlaw
Mayor

I read this 3 times and I still don’t know if this is a joke. Wait, let me read this again...
During Tuesday’s first Board of Aldermen meeting since the death of Officer Thalmann, three people spoke out against the mayor and the city’s handling of the events.
“Going as far as to say you are a Christian- because you went to a cop killer’s funeral, [which] is a huge disgrace to every man slash woman of the blue,” said New Bern resident Eric Whitehurst.
“You owe an apology to everyone. But I’m also aware, you’re not going to get it,” said Laura Heckman, of New Bern.
“There is a void in leadership right now, and the city can do better than this,” said resident Steve Long. “I will echo that quote, Mr. Mayor. Resign.”

No doubt he was a good rapper too.
Posting from fallen Officer’s Mother
Stacey Thalmann · Works at NC Prison RN, life IS stranger than fiction
I am Alex Thalmann’s Mother. My son was adopted and of Latino Heritage. I raised him to not listen to other peoples opinions of people and to get to know them as individuals. Alex did not believe in racial profiling. He believed in the law.
People who are up to something exhibit physical signs, body language if you will. When Alex talked to this guy, he chose to run. People who are not up to no good don’t run. I was also told Stallings stated to his cousin saying he would never go back to prison.
For the last 4 years I have worked as an RN at Craven Correctional in Vanceboro. I treated all the inmates with kindness thinking I may be the first nice person they had ever met. They would tell me stories of their lives and how they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Sometimes I would run their rap sheets only to discover they had been in the wrong place at the wrong time 20 or more times which is why they are in Prison.
To say my son was a racist (racial profiling) is completely unacceptable. Everyone who knew Alex, and I mean both genders, all races, all religions found him to be a compassionate and giving human being.
As for myself, I worked for 4 years with Stallings Aunt who raised him and also works at the Prison. She is still the same woman I had come to like and know. She is not responsible for an adult man who chose the life he did.
As for the politicians they are always going to go after the vote.
My Alex died too young and violently. I chose his friends, family and fellow Police Officers to honor him rather than those who knew nothing of him. Alex earned the respect of his fellow Officers and he deserved nothing less.
My heart is broken and I would never wish losing a child on anyone.
If you feel your politicians are broken in New Bern you have the right and the obligation to vote them out.
Sincerely,
Stacey Thalmann, Washington, NC

Please... make this ‘Front Page News’
Turning his life around. Good to all all his baby mommas and chillun ‘cept child support and actual fatherhood.
And he was turning his life around.
Thanks for the link to the local coverage. From the linked article it’s clear that this despicable mayor is a typical liberal and, even more despicable, he’s trying to paint himself as a victim. Extract from the article:
“Im sorry that people tend to see it in a different way, he said. When death occurs, it is not a good time to try to make a mountain out of a molehill.... Outlaw said when he became mayor he realized he would become the pin cushion for the city and he was willing to accept that.
The cyberbullying isnt solving anything, he said. But if that is the only way some people have of releasing their anger, then thats the way it will have to be.
Hope Rush talks about this today.
I guess Mayor Outlaw profession is outlaw.
I vote recall election. I’m low on ammo right now.
