Balaclava-clad far-right paramilitaries fire into the air at the funeral in Ukraine of an anti-government protestor. This is not a tribute to a fellow right-wing nationalist, but to a Jewish construction worker, Alexander Scherbanyuk.
Of the approximately 100 people killed during the protests in Kiev that swept Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich from power in February, three were Jews, according to Vyacheslav Likhachev, a Ukrainian anti-Semitism expert.
The same day, snipers in Kiev killed two more Jewish anti-government protesters, Josef Shiling, a 61-year-old construction worker from Drogobych and Evgeniy Kotlyar, a 33-year old ecological activist from Kharkiv. Each of the three men, whom the Ukrainians consider as martyrs to their revolution, were known by their local Jewish communities, Likachev said.

I don’t think it deserves the dedication that you guys are giving to post 4, if you were answering it, that would be one thing, but to just keep asking over and over why is was asked, is a bit much.
Maybe because you’re being so obtuse about it. Here we have a Jewish publication identifying Jews who were killed. It generated your question about the religious affiliation about the others who were killed. This Jewish publication is not obligated to provide you with that information, and someone providing a guess that the religious makeup of the others killed reflects the religious makeup of the general population is not far-fetched.
I don’t know where you are getting all that, I’m not being obtuse, I have no doubt that 3 Jews were killed and I have never even thought about the publication.
As far as using Ukrainian demographics to fit the religion of the rioters in Kiev, that isn’t the way things work in real life, and besides, I believe the point of the article is to point out that the demographic generalities for the nation, do not apply to the rioters.
I could have sworn that you have been saying this isn’t a big deal and I kept agreeing with, even when you would ping me yet again to agree with you, but you sure won’t let it go.

I didn’t list the religion of 97 dead “rioters”. I said “Almost all were - if they held to any religion at all - Catholic or Ukrainian Orthodox.” And that is simply the truth.

Not that it's an interesting conversation but I'll speculate.
Jewish organizations tend to track these things, given a history of persecution. Including Europe. And Russia and the Ukraine. So I'm ok with 3.
Muslim organizations tend to track these things too, When it's non Muslims doing the killing, likely here, or when they can reasonably blame it on Zionists. Someone suggested 1, can't argue.
That leaves 96 others. I don't know how many self identify as athiests, agnostics, Hindu, et al in the Ukraine, but I'd guess it's not a majority, so who's left.
I'd love to see Christian groups raise h*ll a bit more about the religious based genocide going on in the Islamic world, but there's no indication religion was an issue here, Christians or Jews. So it's moot.
