CBSs decision to replace David Letterman with comic Stephen Colbert is an open act of contempt toward ordinary Americans, Rush Limbaugh says.

If Rush is right, he’ll fail with dismal ratings. Rush should have said nothing and just let him fail. Don’t give him late night material.
Colbert is a really creepy dude that never breaks character, and somehow gets really stupid kids to think he is actually delivering them “news”.
I expect yet another s*itty show full of cheap internet stunts and left-wing advocacy.
I doubt highly he’ll be doing the Colbert Report shtick, it doesn’t lend itself to the movie promotions that are 90% of late night talk. He’ll drop back to the comedy stylings he had before.
I would rather have seen Louie CK or any number of talented comics.
This guy? What the hell was CBS thinking? Outside of that dumb character he plays, he has nothing else.
I still miss Steve Allen.
He won’t last long.
From the little bit of Colbert I’ve seen...he does an imitation of an obnoxious Ted Baxter type newscaster that is obviously BOR.
Then everybody says he’s mocking a conservative commentator.
Drives me nuts.
Dumbing down ? He started a PAC! Sure, he was playing it light, but he actually did it.
.....And yet he is still number 1 as a conservtive talkradio show host. That says something.
Me too. That was an awesome video. Far better than the Mr. Potatohead.
The only one worth watching is Johnny Carson. Is he still on?
Same. It was entertaining watching him throw things off buildings, like fluorescent light tubes and watermelons. I won’t miss him now.
“I still miss Jack Paar.”
Me too. I liked Carson also.
I never watch those shows so it doesn’t bother me the least. I will admit that I stayed up sometimes for Carson.
Thought they’d give it to Craig Fergusen, who I think is a quite funny and talented late nite host. Haven’t seen him do any preaching . . . just good comedy, good writing, etc.
His biggest problem is that he comes across as a very proud American (he’s an immigrant from Scotland) and says nice things about all people.
He’s a lot funnier than the other late-nite jerks, including the newest phony who had Her Royal Hind-Ass on his early show.
Any way the go, I won’t watch anyway.
How could Colbert be any worse than Letterman.
Well said - thanks.
Steve Allen! I’d forgotten that he was the originator of the Tonight Show. What a genius! So much of the current format was his doing. He was so outrageously funny and he brought very funny people on to the show as cast members and writers. You could tune in his show and be assured that you would find yourself laughing out loud in spite of yourself. So many of the current crop are good for a chuckle or two but Steve Allen would put you on the floor laughing your pants off.
Now I’m definitely not watching the show I’ve never watched!
