(CNSNews.com) - Today is not about Lois Lerner or the alleged inappropriate tactics she may have employed," Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) told the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Thursday. "Today is about protecting the integrity and the credibility of this committee."
Speier accused Republicans of fabricating a "vast conspiracy" around a "mid-level bureaucrat who may have made some poor decisions."
"There is no connection to the White House," she said. "What we are trying to do is hold in contempt a mid-level bureaucrat, and the actions of this committee won't stand up to judicial scrutiny."

There needs to be some SERIOUS consequences for anyone using the power of the government at any level to suppress an opposition political movement.
Joined at the hip they are.
One thing about the RATS — they act in unity especially when lying and protecting each others skins.
Politics is war for them and the GOP is the enemy.
No, American citizens are the enemy.
WELL if ANY of us had the cajones, WE WOULD ALL NOT pay our taxes
until the IRS is held accountable!!!! STARVE THE BEAST!!!
“Eric Holder is without the least shred of integrity. He is thoroughly dishonest. He was put in place to do one thing and that is to protect his bosss ass from the law.”
“Mid-level”? Then her boss should be answering these questions. And if there had not been disciplinary action taken in a timely manner, then the boss’s boss should be answering some questions.
All the way to the top.
Somebody set up the paradigm and agenda. Who gave Lois Lerner the authority to operate within that scope of action?
“Outta control” does not begin to describe the degree of scofflaw activity that has been going on here.
Of course, we cannot expect Eric Holder to proceed with any charges against Lois Lerner. He is in even deeper doo-doo than just the IRS cover-up.
Question for FReeper Legal Eagles:
Given she testified before the DOJ, can the House Judciary Committee suponea that testimony; or, is there a division between the House and DOJ and the House doesn’t have rights obtain such documentation (IIRC she wasn’t under oath in the DOJ testimony)?
Thanks in advance!
RE: Jackie Spier. Jim Jones missed one.
Adolph Eichman was also a mid level bureaucrat, having only become a lieutenant colonel. Indeed, most of the SS officers who ran major extermination camps were mid level officers, just like Eichman. Lerner’s the same, a mid level official assigned to do the actual dirty work for the higherups, be a cutout, and protect them. The fascinating thing about the True the Vote case is several separate agencies were involved, meaning they could only have been coordinated by a lead criminal operating from the White House who was following the Mahdi’s orders.
Then releasing those e-mails shouldn’t be a problem.

LL: Hey big guy. I’m really putting the screws to those Tea Party yahoos!
BO: You go grrrl! Like I said, `They bring a knife, etc.’. Make sure you break *every* law and IRS regulation you can think of! HA HA HA HA HA! You know I’m gay, right? REDACTED/ EXPLETIVES DELETED pretty much a Roman orgy and then Reggie left early.
“No controlling legal authority”-—Fat Al
“We were only following orders”
Speier obviously is of the San Fran Nan school of botox to the brain
We should be burning down their buildings at this point. The IRS is a criminal organization.
Male bovine fecal matter.
Mid-level bureaucrats never take this serious of a policy stance without explicit orders from wayyyyy up...
She is unwittingly suggesting, then, that someone higher up, with a definite connection to the White House, ordered Lerner to violate the rights of conservatives.
