President Obama has requested $1.1 billion and the Department of Justice (DOJ) asked for $382.1 million for gun control "to protect Americans from gun violence."
Included in the DOJ's $382.1 million figure is a request for $2 million for smart gun technology grants.
According to The Washington Beacon, Obama's $1.1 billion "[includes] $182 million to support the president's 'Now is the Time' gun safety initiative."
"Now is the Time" includes the following:
1. Require background checks for all gun sales. 2. Strengthen the background check system for gun sales.
3. Pass a new, stronger ban on assault weapons.
4. Limit ammunition magazines to 10 rounds.
4. Finish the job of getting armor-piercing bullets off the streets
5. Give law enforcement additional tools to prevent and prosecute gun crime
6. End the freeze on gun violence research
7. Make our schools safer with new resource officers and counselors, better emergency response plans, and more nurturing school climates.
8. Ensure quality coverage of mental health treatment, particularly for young people....

1. Require background checks for all gun sales.
I break down gun-control proposals into three classes:
Generally, I place background checks in category 1.
Universal background checks that include a record of every legal transfer I place firmly in category 3.
What this does is reverse the presumption of innocence, with regard to firearms ownership. Currently, it's legal to possess a firearm unless you or the firearm fall under some specific legal provision. If we allow universal background checks with a paper trail, we change that. Possession of a firearm will be illegal, unless the proper records exist. Yes, existing firearms will be grandfathered, but the general rule will be established, and over time more and more firearms will fall under this category.
It's hard to describe how fundamental a shift this is. And what effect it will have on the mindset of law-enforcement in general.
And what risk it places on every gun owner.
Currently, it's only the class-III owners who face the risk of length prison sentences when the BATF screws up their records. Every gun owner's freedom would be dependent on the BATF not losing these records through malice or incompetence. (And we all know that both have happened in the past.)
It'd be a clear indication that Claire Wolfe's awkward stage is coming to an end.
Obama could never pass a background check as he did drugs. Yet he seeks to impose this and more on the law abiding.
He can go F himself.
any congress critter that would agree to this request is a trator to the US Constitution and should be shot for same.
Wasn't the last election litmus test enough?

rotten liar he is.
It isnt foreign tyrant you hae to fear. It's the domestic home grown ones like 0bama, Bloomberg, Pelosi, Leland Yee, etc. And their conquering army is already here. It's called your local police and federal agencies.
The incremental creeping, fudging the line disarming of American citizens. Do these evil America haters think that Americans have gone on this gun shopping spree for the last few years to turn them in?
