Armed federal agents deployed last week to northeast Clark County, Nev., for what can only be described as a major escalation in a decades-long standoff between a local cattle rancher and the U.S. government.
.Cliven Bundy, the last remaining rancher in the southern Nevada county, stands in defiance of a 2013 court order demanding that he remove his cattle from public land managed by the U.S. Department of the Interiors Bureau of Land Management.
The 67-year-old veteran rancher, who has compared the situation to similar confrontations with government officials in Ruby Ridge and Waco, Texas, told TheBlaze that his family has used land in the 600,000-acre Gold Butte area since the late 1800s.
I have raised cattle on that land, which is public land for the people of Clark County, all my life. Why I raise cattle there and why I can raise cattle there is because I have preemptive rights, he said, explaining that among them is the right to forage.
Who is the trespasser here? Who is the trespasser on this land? Is the United States trespassing on Clark County, Nevada, land? Or is it Cliven Bundy who is trespassing on Clark County, Nevada, land? Whos the trespasser?
Claiming that all other options have been exhausted, the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. National Park Service responded to Bundys inflexibility on the issue by calling on federal agents and contract cowboys to restrict access to the public land and to confiscate Bundys trespass cattle.
.Cattle have been in trespass on public lands in southern Nevada for more than two decades. This is unfair to the thousands of other ranchers who graze livestock in compliance with federal laws and regulations throughout the West, the Bureau of Land Management stated on its website about the case.

Zoning laws can definitely be a means for powerful people to protect their interests in a certain area. In that regard, some zoning laws are clearly out of line.
Are the some good zoning laws put in place by good people? Yes. But even those need to be flexible. Times change. If they tear a school down, then it should no longer be zoned with the school in mind.
“When you dont own the land, reasonable fees are based on your actual costs for that piece of land. Thats the only thing you can possibly be interested in. Why would you want more than what youd put in?”
The BUYER determines what is fair by accepting or rejecting the price. As a buyer, I do not care if the seller is making money or losing it. I only care if the price matches what I am willing to pay.
If I sell a horse, the buyer doesn’t care about my training costs, feed costs, original costs, etc. The buyer only cares if the horse matches what he wants to pay for a horse like that.
The feds may have way more money in a piece of land than what a rancher would pay. After all, they may have made roads for fire control, recreations facilities, etc. Or they may not. The rancher doesn’t care. The rancher cares about how much forage is there, the quality, how long, the number of animals, access to roads or shipping, his costs to put the cattle or sheep there, how much water, etc. He takes that in to account in deciding how much the grazing permit is worth to him, and pays it or rejects it accordingly.
Someone wanting to buy grazing rights on the state land near me would probably take in to account the lack of forage, the existing water holes, the condition of the stock pens, estimate how much it would cost him to round the cattle up when there may only be 1-2 steers/sq mile, etc. He doesn’t care what the state put in to the land.
The rancher wants free feed that no other rancher gets. Why do you believe that is a good thing? What makes THIS guy so special?
The rancher paid for the grazing permit from 1953-1998. He had no problem with paying for 45 years. Then he decides he wants it all for free. Why should I feel sorry for him?
The rancher wants free feed that no other rancher gets. Why do you believe that is a good thing?
Free cow feed! How dare he do this to the feds.
You're on the case Mr. Rodgers. Love your rock solid honorable priorities. And for having the fortitude to speak out against this terrible American and what he's done to our country.
Why does THIS rancher deserve special rights that no other rancher in the USA receives?
The ranchers I know PAY for their grazing permits, as this guy did for 45 years. Why should he get to stop paying when every other rancher does not?
Ya, let hope the feds go in there and kill him and his wife...make a good example of these international terrorist. How dare they trespass on government land.
It’s best to show the rest of Americans they better follow ALL the laws...Like the feds do...And like the millions of illegal aliens do, as the feds stand down at the borders, waving them through, while holding American at gun point forcing us to subsidize their loving caring illegals.
They all trespasser on our land, and loot the American treasure because it’s all out of love, Mr. Rogers. They kingpins in government told us so!
Have a great cinco de mayo next month Mr. Rogers!
“Ya, let hope the feds go in there and kill him and his wife...”
Captain Hyperbole, is that you?
They are demanding something no rancher has - the ‘right’ to unrestricted grazing on public land. The last time that was tried, we ended up with dust bowls.
I thought LIBERALS were the ones who didn’t know to check for the rest of the story...
Hyperbole?
Do you pick and choose what you remember?
Got a couple questions for ya Mr. Rogers.
Are you suggesting the fedgov and their gov associates are not capable of shooting to death/killing unarmed people and in fact have not already done so multiple times?
Are you suggesting the fedgov has not intentionally aided and abetted a country killing illegal invasion of millions, which have left tens of hundreds of thousands dead, injured, shot, knifed, raped, and robbed Americans?
“Are you suggesting the fedgov has not intentionally aided and abetted a country killing illegal invasion of millions, which have left tens of hundreds of thousands dead, injured, shot, knifed, raped, and robbed Americans?”
I assume you are referring to the failure to secure the borders. What does that have to do with the Endangered Species Act, or a requirement that people grazing on public lands do so in a sustainable manner and pay fees to help cover the costs?

Ya think?
What does that have to do with bla bla...
We're talking about the corrupt feds alleging trespass on U.S. land No?
Is an illegal invasion of millions aided and abetted by corrupt fedgov not considered mass trespass on U.S. soil.
Do you just play stupid or are you not acting?
Stop evading the questions.
“We’re talking about the corrupt feds alleging trespass on U.S. land No?”
No. Bundy has admitted his cattle are there, and they are there in violation of the land owner’s wishes. Thus it is trespass. No ‘alleging’ involved.
Bundy has had his day in court. He argued the US government does not own the land. Since that is a stupid argument, he lost. Now he has been running his cattle illegally for 20 years.
That has as much to do with illegal immigration as a speeding ticket does. Good luck trying to get off doing 100 mph because the US has failed to secure the border.

Why did you evade these questions?
