A two-decades-old battle between a Nevada rancher and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has resulted in officials armed with machine guns surrounding the ranch and forcibly removing the owners cattle, according to the ranchers family.
Cliven Bundy, the last rancher in Clark County, Nev., has been fighting a one-man range war since 1993, when he decided to take a stand against the agency, refusing to pay fees for the right to graze on a ranch run by his family for centuries.
After years of court battles, the BLM secured a federal court order to have Bundys trespass cattle forcibly removed with heavy artillery, the family said.

It’s public land.
I wonder what the BoweL Movement (BLM) would do if the Bundy family were BLACK?
Same thing in 2006 or so on the Outer Banks of NC. NPS put up signs and limited where we could distribute flyers in protest to their seizing free and open beaches.....still fighting 8 years later.
I wonder the same thing. Either he owns the land or nor. If he doesnt own the land he should be paying rent or have some sort of agreement. You cant expect to run cattle on someone elses land for free. That's my thought. If it's public land, then he just has to pay the grazing fee and all is good. Why is he refusing to pay the grazing fees like every other rancher does?
In this case whether we like it or not it is Federal Land. At first I thought it was a grab of or new regulation on their family land but not so. The reasoning may be dumb but i don’t think this guy has a leg to stand on. Although I would rather see the claims for mining or oil exploration on Federal land changed so the government gets paid more than it does now.
I'm pretty sure there is more than one rancher in Nevada.
And Stossel probably had the one featured on the Fox "Enemy of the State" special last weekend. Not the same guy.
How about a "second amendment area"? Is Gov. Sandoval not the commander of his National Guard?
Catherine Englebrecht is featured, and a Nevada rancher that is the guy every FReeper would be proud to be.
Oh yes they did. At least with Waco, they learned they could get away with it.
Mr. Bundy to the prosecutor:
“I’m not financially responsible for the governments inability to conduct a cost benefit analysis prior to initiating Nazi tactics on American citizens.”
Gee, wonder what was going on that year?
And now everyone knows why the STATE National Guard has been usurped by the feds. The governor is “powerless”.
What did Bush know and when?
The rancher is not all that smart. He watched as over 50 other farmers left, for various reasons. Yet he chose to stop paying his fees because of some ancestral nonsense. He should have kept paying the fees, and sued in parallel to get any land ownership dispute settled. Moreover, these guys typically pay a miniscule amount to graze livestock on federal land. I do not have much sympathy here. I also think we do not have all the facts.
I know a guy who had armed, SWAT-type IRS and FBI agents raid his home and family early in the morning over a tax dispute. Lest you think he was operating a Fortune 500 company - his business was a modest 20-table restaurant.
Yes but not all have the same problem. This is the guy who was on Fox and the John Stossel show 3 days ago.
Wayne Hage Jr. inherited his ranch from his father. Very similar set of circumstances.

Exactly !!
The New World Order impacts on our State soverignty
and the United States Fed recognizes no borders, nor State soverignty
just ... "sustainability ".
He refused to pay for his grazing on public lands. Why should I feel sorry for him?
I expect that drones will be deployed in the area of operation.
