Should America Fight World War Three in Order to Defend Estonia?

Posted on 04/08/2014 8:57:52 AM PDT by ComtedeMaistre

Estonia is a little nation of 1.3 million people, which was made a member of NATO in 2004. Estonia was once a province of the Soviet Union. It has a Russian minority that is 25 percent of the population, and Russia has vowed to protect ethnic Russians if they are subjected to mass violence by the Estonian majority.

Did NATO make a wise decision to bring in itty-bitty baltic nations that were once part of the Soviet Union? I can understand the importance of preventing the Soviet Union from being brought back into existence. But the lives of American troops are valuable, and should only be used to defend high value allies of the United States.

Let us hope the brave Poles will have more than horse cavalry this time.

Yeah well, you would best remember the 303rd RAF Squadron and Monte Cassino. Poles took the fight to the Nazis all through the war, even after their land was taken from them.

1. Aside from Russian assertions, what evidence is there that Estonia is repressing minorities?

(none at all that i’ve heard of,,, just like no evidence Russia intends to invade Estonia)

2. Perhaps someone could enlighten me as to how a suspicion of minority repression excludes a NATO member nation from the mutual defense pact that underpins the alliance.

(because NATO isn’t meant to protect member nations ability to crush internal dissent that results in someone intervening)
Say for example Turkey clearly started extreme crackdowns on Armenians, and it became very obvious that Armenians there were in grave danger. Armenia invades to safeguard them. Should Turkey be able to claim it was attacked?

Largely this discussion is academic though. Since the Balkans, NATO has been on the side of oppression and radical Islam.

“Yup. If we abandon little Estonia just because Russia threatens us, then no problem abandoning bigger allies.

Before long, they’ll come after us here - because we showed them how weak we’ve become.

Didn’t learn anything from Manchuria, Ethiopia, the Sudetenland? War came to us anyway, didn’t it?” You nail it.

If we didn’t have a pansy a$$ for rPresident, Putin would not be pulling this garbage. Ronald Reagan’s work freed MiLLIONS from the boot heel and Butthead and crew are doing their best to destroy freedom both here and abroad Every day I pray he is eaten by a shark on one of his vacays or hit by lightening while golfing. Jan 20, 2017 can’t come soon enough to suit me.

The thought that Russia would launch nukes on the US if we defended Estonia is ridiculous to say the least, simply for fear of the retaliatory strike. Having said that, the question is whether we should fight Russia in Europe or wait until Russia has gobbled up all of their land, population, and production capacity and believes itself strong enough, perhaps after making a treaty with China, to make war on the US and Canada here in North America. Take your pick, sooner or later that choice will have to be made.

Its like a herd of lambs trying to appease the wolves with each lamb secretly hoping to be the last one eaten. Of course we should go fight in Europe, we’re not defending Europe at that point, we’re defending ourselves; while just using Europe as the battlefield, again. We all must understand that Russia’s target is not Europe. Europe is just a means to an end, which is destroying the US. I cannot say whether Estonia would or should be the tripwire, but most certainly by the time Russia gets to Poland it should be. We’re going to have to fight the Bear and the Dragon at some point, we should choose battlefields as far away from the US as possible. This is the lesson of history I hope our political leaders have not forgotten.

Nothing here to worry about. Estonia is just another “red line” country. We’ll just draw another red line and relax. Is there anything worth fighting for anymore? I think the era of being the world’s policeman and The American Century is over. We have to get our own house in order first, we have to put an end to this destructive regime we have and get us back on our feet.

There is no evidence that Russia intends to invade Estonia. So far, the Russians are just trying to boss it around.

“Look. I’m COUNTING on a few dozen nukes falling in American cities.”

And it’s going to drop on the cities where the greatest number of liberals congregate.

Last thing Russia wants is for Texas to declare war on them.

The thing is, the Poles won’t wait until NATO gives them the OK to take action....If the Western Ukraine or the Baltics were threatened, they would move in.

Maybe Estonia should decide to not repress their minorities.

This is nonsense. Russians in Estonia may be the “Gypsies” and “Mafia” of the nation, but they aren’t repressed. You’ve fallen for the Russian propaganda.

The Estonian people are decent, peaceful, tolerant and gentle. They welcome those of Russian descent into their circles of friends and workplaces.

Just like for blacks in the US, there is ample opportunity to assimilate and enjoy all the benefits of citizenship.

The only difference is that Estonian Russians are the recent descendants of those who looted the nation and enslaved the Estonians.

How’d you like to be the little old lady living today in abject poverty, while the nice house your late husband built and had stolen by the soviets was still being lived in by a Russian family, without compensation to the true owner?

If the USA does not defend all NATO nations NATO is worthless.

If NATO does not step up and join in, instead of leaving it to the U.S., then it's also worthless.

Was in Estonia last summer. Per our guide, Estonians have embraced capitalism and especially home ownership. Their former President resided and studied in America for many years. Consider Estonia to be a bright spot in the former Eastern Bloc. It would be a shame to let them be gobbled up and, I believe, a forerunner to more countries being taken over. Seems to me we have an excellent example of allowing such behavior and the results thereof in WWII.

Nazis made all kinds of newsreels in 1939, about how the “poor” Volksdeutsche were being slaughtered by those “evil” Poles.

NATO's charter either means what it says or it doesn't. All for one and one for all.

NATO's charter is now worthless, diluted by inflation in 1999 and 2004 when twelve new members were admitted with full treaty rights. What was once a mutual defense treaty shared by a small core of nations united against Soviet aggression has now morphed into an offensive alliance hellbent on encircling Russia. Americans who were committed to defend Germany, Italy and The Netherlands from a Soviet invasion will not stomach going to war over Estonia, Bulgaria or Ukraine.

NATO was expanded during a period of naive hubris when we we were sure America would be invincible forever. Now we are bankrupt and exhausted from two decades of pointless war with nothing to show but emboldened enemies, and burdened by more treaty commitments that we can possibly honor. Like an overextended bank fearing a run from its depositors, our nightmare is that all of our many enemies might now strike at once. We were fools!

Had we a President who had our best interests in mind, a simple threat made to RasPutin in regard to vaporizing a large Russian city would probably be enough to thwart him.

How is threatening nuclear war over Estonia in our best interest?

Kill the people and retain the property and infrastructure.

Sort of what I think happened to MA 370.

It would probably be cheaper to issue the Estonian’s immigration visas.

But how would 1 million hard-working and good-looking blondes assimilate here?

“Language,” the diplomat told the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, “should not be used to segregate and isolate groups,” going on to note that Russia was “concerned by steps taken in this regard in Estonia.”

Well, I did find that a diplomat in Geneva said this. I think you’re right,,, war is imminent! Excited?

When is NATO going to save the US from the unarmed invasion from the South?

NATO is the enforcement arm of the Globalist NWO. Follow Washington's advice and get the US out of NATO, the UN, and all Globalist organizations.
