Just watched the highly-under-rated Human Comedy a few weeks ago, on TCM. It was some conciliation that Rooney was still breathing.
A triple threat who could act, too, when given half a chance, and not just ape, which is what he was usually called upon to do. A career longer than Bob Hope's?
Imagine. Woodrow Wilson was closing out his final term, with Edith really running things, when he was born.

I liked Mickey a *whole lot* more than Andy. Which was easy, since I didn’t Andy.
I recall an interview with Mickey in his later years. He said, with all sincerity, that he loved each woman he married, when he married her. He just loved women.
A very interesting gentleman to see interviewed.

I have hope at 76 years and Rooney at 88 years entertaining.

It was disturbing and sad to watch.I thought the same thing. Faking washing the dishes. She was advertising term life insurance if I recall.
To: Pan_Yan
RIP Mr. Rooney. You entertained our nation like few have done.
God bless you and your family.

I’m sure there are some Japanese people in Heaven giving him what-for for his performance in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”
RIP, Mickey.

you know, you expect it because of their age and are thankful and amazed they are still around, but when it happens, I’m still saying DANG... too bad he couldn’t hang around a while longer. RIP buddy

About thirty years back, wife and I were spending a couple of days at the Downingtown Inn, outside of Philly, then partially owned by Mickey Rooney - were having a quiet supper in the hotel dining room when in from a side door came Mickey himself - sits down at the piano, spins off three or four tunes, then gets up and leaves, all without a word - nice evening......
RIP, Mickey. Thanks.
To: Pan_Yan
What a guy. Loved his stuff. We got to watch plenty of his early childhood movies in Film Lecture in college.
