Evolve, adapt or die. That is the fate of our current Republican party. We must evolve as a party and find a way to attract millennials to the conservative movement or we will never succeed in realizing our ideals of individual freedom and freedom from government interference.
Initially, I received criticism from political pundits for speaking to non-traditional audiences. I was told it was a waste of time to reach out to these audiences, specifically students from both Howard University and University of California, Berkeley.
My response is this: I have never been one to watch the world go by without participating. I wake up each day hoping to make a difference.
You might be a Republican, Democrat or Independent. I speak before these audiences, not to preach or prescribe some special formula.
My intention is not to tell you what to be. You are more important than any political party or partisan pleadings. My intention is to motivate all Americans and defend their rights.
My hope is that in discussing these topics, more Americans will be open to the conservative message. A message that favors choice in education, a less aggressive foreign policy, more compassion regarding non-violent crime and encourages opportunity in employment.
As a conservative [*cough, *cough] politician, it is clear to me that we must start discussing these topics more with audiences that might not normally hear our message--specifically young adults and students.
Preaching to the choir is not working for the conservative movement. We are growing stale and moss-covered. We must evolve, adapt or die.

Wish they’d wake up and smell the extinction.
If their “Kumbaya” BS goes forward, the totalitarian left would find them usful idiots to herd the rest of us into the impending death camps.
Totalitarians always do that.
History shows it, again, and again, and again, and again.
And the RINOs are the latest batch of “Maybe we can reason with the horrible killing machine monster because it really has a heart of gold” fallacious thought.
A.k.a “Maybe the shark will eat us last”
Where do you get these position statements? Half are false.
I don’t believe the FEDERAL government should be ensuring food and health care. Those should be done by the states, local government, and non-profit organizations.
Why do you think ANY level of gov should be ensuring food and health care?
It’s not the government’s business at any level.
noone go hungry or with out med care
It is the responsibility if individuals and private charity to help the poor. Not government.
The political message could be wonderful and unless people want to listen, it would get ignored.
If the message was reduce gov to what is mandated in the Constitution, and get rid of cronyism, crapitalist gov/in/bed/with/corporations, and get rid of thugs in deecee, that message would have a very broad appeal. People would want to listen.
FYI, the other candidate went to a pro chicken fight rally, asserting states rights.
I figured there was more to the story as to why Rand Paul endorsed Mitch. There’s may be more in the closet that we don’t know about.
My guess is that some of those that attacked me know of his pro chicken fighting rally. They just failed to acknowledge it.
Thanks.
You’re right on all counts.
I just read the article. He is toast. Rand was right.
“They asked if I would be interested in speaking. I’m a politician running statewide, any chance I get to speak to a few hundred people I’m going to take it.”
If it was a KKK rally, would he have spoken before their group? He made a very poor decision and it should cost him.
“Especially after the idiotic statements they got called on and tried to backpedal/obfuscate from.”
If you are referring to the statement “Motivating folks to defend their Constitutional Rights and that I think it’s something that is broadly supportable from a Conservative standpoint - no matter what politician says it - I’m not sure I recall backpedaling from that. Refresh my memory.
“You dont know Darksheare. You dont know anything about Darksheare.”
Enlighten me then.
“This site is pro-God, life, family, country, constitution. We are not going to evolve or adapt to the RINO or liberaltarian message. Sorry.”
There is nothing libertarian, RINO, anti-God, anti-family, anti-country or anti-Constitution about: My intention is to motivate all Americans and defend their rights.
I think it’s a good thing for a politician to say/do. I think any Conservative should too.
Re: Sincerity
My intention is to motivate all Americans and defend their rights.
I don’t know if any particular politician is sincere about any particular thing they say. You probably don’t know either (though assuming in the negative, you’ll probably be right more than most of the time), but if a particular thing is applauded and supported maybe they’ll say more of it, and heaven forbid, maybe they’ll start doing parts of what they say about a particular thing. That’s part and parcel of politics.
There no good reason to oppose wanting people to “fight for their constitutional rights”. Even if a politician out-of-favor says it.
I can’t give you ten years’ worth of information about our friendship in a single post, nor will I comply with your rather silly request.
You swung down off your horse Paul in front of the Town Hall, hitched up your shiny new silk britches, slapped the dust off your Hempseed vest, and headed for the Town Hall's front door.
Back in Libertariantown, you had heard the many stories about the townspeople of Conservativeville "clinging to their guns and their bibles". Clearly they were stuck in the past, unable to grasp the inevitable change that must come to their town.
Many "Messengers of Progress" had been sent to Conservativeville before you, but every single one of them had returned, badly burned and unable to articulate exactly what had happened to them.
That's when the leaders of Libertariantown sent for you. They were sure that you, RedForemanRules would be the one to bring the message to Conservativeville's citizens -- the message that they must obey -- they must "evolve, adapt or die".
Stepping through the doors, you stamped your well-worn Hempweave boots, to knock the trail dust off of them.
Then, showing everyone in the Hall why you were known as the "fastest lip in the land", you began your full bore diatribe, barely pausing to take a breath between verbal barrages.
All seemed to go well as you spewed your words to the left and to the right -- you were determined to make sure nobody escaped "The Message".
A few tried to raise their voices to aim some retorts at you, but you were fully confident that your verbal tsunami would wash them away like driftwood -- all would fall before your onslaught.
And then -- BOOM, a deafening blast and a flash of bright light overwhelmed you. All you could remember seeing as darkness overcame you was a room full of people, laughing and pointing at you.
Later, when you awoke back in Libertariantown, you found yourself laying on your stomach, being treated for massive burns on your backside. The rear-end of your new silk britches was burnt completely off, so treatment was not difficult for the new Obamacare Doctor, Dr. Ima Moderatemuslim, that Libertariantown had just hired from Iran, via Tijuana.
The Nurse treating you explained that you had been found laying unconscious, just outside the city limits of Conservativevile, with a handwritten note pinned to your back.
The note said: "You were warned upon entering town -- No abortionism, homosexualism, atheism, isolationism, socialism; defeatism, open borders, free condoms, free drugs, etc. allowed!" "P.S. Your broke-back horse Paul has been retired to pasture -- his glory days are over."
The note was signed: "J.R."
“Libertarians like to make a veiled feint to the left”
I commented on one thing that I agreed with that a politician said - something that is conservative. How does that make one a libertarian, even if a libertarian said it?
“I cant give you ten years worth of information about our friendship in a single post, nor will I comply with your rather silly request.”
It’s reasonable for me to point out that you are the one who brought it up in the first place.
You’re getting better and better, my friend.
