If so, the US has an over abundance of it and it's time we start shipping more LNG to those who want it. Don't know what the logistics are, but we are rich in natural gas. Still, don't know why our gas bills haven't gone down. Pretty much suspect the speculators. Same above for oil.
This sounds so laughable. I think it's the world's first case when someone has 'pirated' a navy. Usually, they pirate merachant ships, while navies are expected to defend themselves, you know.
The price wasn’t raised for Ukraine....the billions in vast subsidies were cut and price raised to what other European countries pay. This puts Ukraine in position for renewed negotiations.....they will have no choice but to meet with Russia...which is what Putin wants.
This pressure is exactly as the EU and US do as well, when they want to force their agendas. Ukraine is in the squeeze now to get that from all players.
Government, actually, is who keeps that money from the spread of expected prices vs existing prices, as well as the money from 'penalties' for using more than the 'allowed therms per month (or whatever measurement your locality uses.)'
I have to admit, my head hurts when I try to figure out how to convert prices per thousand cubic meters to MMbtu. So I really can't figure out the equivelent price that Ukraine is paying. I suspect it is around 4.74 per MMbtu under this new price.
But hey, aside from the original article leaving off that the price is rising to $485 per a THOUSAND cubic meters, there's also this: gazprom press release - the rise in price is Russia enforcing old accords in an effort to follow the demands of the EU that they follow all existing accords. Ahh, Russians, they do love to beat people with their own sticks.
Well... more along the lines of 'we've been selling this gas duty free for a while, in exchange for that port in Crimea, but since you no longer provide that service, we're no longer waiving the duty fees. Oh, and give us 2.2 billion for the gas you've already received that you still owe us.'

Why is it an “aggressive move” when Russia is simply cutting off the billions of subsidies it gave Ukraine? It’s how Nation leaders work to get people at the table to negotiate....The EU isn’t going to give them oil....there’s no time if not impossible to do so.
Are you watching the trade agreements TTP and others?...Just standard operations to use resources as leverage on the world stage. Ukraine is not exempt from that.... EU made their move on Ukraine.....and this knowing it would shake oil distribution. The EU/US are not doing more for Ukraine then stabilizing it and positioning it for their own purposes....certainly not Ukraine’s interests.
Ukraine got played, and is still being played like a pawn on a chessboard.....it always has. Similar to the Palestinian issues....Ukraine will always be a “hot spot” politically....the reasons we see playing out currently.
When you see Putins development plans for Crimea, which for years has been ignored by Ukraine....and then you see EU’S plans in Ukraine you see mostly it’s about stabilizing the Government and trade with EU. Not building it’s country back up.
Unfortunately Ukraines “freedom” will always be on the table from one revolution to the next...Russia's already going around Ukraine in the future...and the EU will basically drop the ball overall..and there they will sit.
Ukraine didn't see very far down the road...and they still don't. Same Governing people are running for Pres. as in the past....at most Ukraine will be neutral...with agreements No US missile bases in Ukraine...and the oil MIGHT flow.
Russia agreed to sacrifice $40 billion in state revenues by selling cheaper gas to economically hamstrung Ukraine in exchange for a longer lease of a naval base in the Black Sea port of Sevastopol, the presidents of both countries said Wednesday.
President Dmitry Medvedev announced after a meeting with Ukrainian counterpart Viktor Yanukovych that Russia would give a 30 percent discount for most of Ukraine's gas imports. Ukraine will record the savings as an increase in Russia's lease payment for the naval base, Medvedev said.
These issues are directly and unequivocally linked in the agreement, Medvedev said at a news conference that the two presidents gave in Kharkiv, the biggest Ukrainian city near the Russian border.
The gas deal a revision of the stringent gas trade contract signed with Ukraine's previous government last year and permission for the Russian Black Sea Fleet to rent the Sevastopol base through 2042, are the first major steps toward an improvement of bilateral ties that deteriorated after former President Viktor Yushchenko swept to power in Kiev five years ago.
... The discount will apply to 30 billion cubic meters of gas sold this year and 40 bcm of gas annually until the contract expires in 2019, Gazprom said in a statement.
You can always count on Russia when it signs a deal.
LOL.
And the Nazis are in Ukraine. LOL
Back when the world had some measure of Freedom, economic deals tended to have BOTH sides agreeing to a price before the deal was made. Ahhhh, the good ol' days.
Yes, and they are here in the USA as well.....however they are simply used by higher powers than they can attain to. They are one of the chosen thugs among others to do the dirty work...but have no power themselves ....though they seek it.
I'm thinking there'd be some upsides to global economic collapse.
Tough. If you’re a putinista and you don’t like being called one, then why don’t you go away? When did you get to define conservatism as the worship of Putin?
About the same time I was asking whether Merkel is still proud of her plan to shutdown German nuclear power plants? That’s gotta be stinging a little now.
“Why is it an aggressive move when Russia is simply cutting off the billions of subsidies it gave Ukraine? Its how Nation leaders work to get people at the table to negotiate”
Nonsense. They were never any subsidies. They were just bribes to keep the lease on their bases in Crimea. Now that Russia has invaded and annexed Crimea, there’s no need for any more bribes. It’s as simple as that. You’re right, this isn’t an aggressive move, the aggressive move was stealing the territory in the first place. This is just a logical follow up move.
I can show you sources that say Russia has more Neo-Nazi's than any other country.
There are plenty of videos on YouTube showing Neo-Nazi activity and violence in Russia.
There is at least one Russian parliament member who defends these groups.
The attempt to broadbrush Ukrainians as Nazis is Russian propaganda. Ukrainians deserve the right to determination their future and I hope they are able to do that. Elections are scheduled for May.
