I hope with all my heart that it helps your poor pup.

I reckon somebody will figure it out soon enough.

The woman said they first saw it sitting on their tree-mounted bird feeder eating corn.
Just like a coon.
The way it chews looks exactly like a coon.
I’m not one of those who needs this to be “something else” so I’m sticking with coon.
:)

It is a raccoon with mange. Most “chupacubra” are coyotes with mange.

They don’t WANT it to be a raccoon.... they WANT it to be a creature that doesn’t exist!

Popularity Poll...
Mooshell???
Or
Chewbacca???
I’m going with Chewy...Much more popular...
Besides, Mooshell in this picture looks more like a Morlock from the “Time Machine” than anything else...

Raccoon with sarcoptic mange. All these sightings of “chupacabras” are animals like foxes, coyotes, or other wildlife with sarcoptic mange.

Well, I am not going to belabor the point. Historically all these deformed hairless creatures always turn out to be coyotes, foxes (grey or red) or dogs... With opposable thumbs?

I suppose you could call it a thumb, but it's different..
"Raccoons have been widely used for neurobiological research and with respect to paw (hand) use have been `considered' to be primates because they display highly developed skilled hand use. Their exceptional manipulatory ability is puzzling from an evolutionary perspective both because they belong to a taxon that is divergent from primates and because most members of their taxon are not especially skilled. Surprisingly, there has been no systematic investigation of their manipulatory ability."
