The purpose of guards is to hand out DWI’s and drunk-n-disorderly charges on Friday/Saturday night - this is the priority. My niece recently graduated law school and interned with the JAG corp. She said you would not believe the guys getting charges at the gate fresh back from deployment.
Yeah, but I am not talking about the SP (Shore Patrol) or the MPs. I am talking about the grunts that walk guard duty around a battalion HQ, company Motor Pool, etc. They are just regular enlisted. The SP and MP are always armed but they mainly main the entrance to the base. Once you get into the interior of a base it’s regular enlisted walking posts.
