RinaseaofDs strikes upon the motive of Democrats, or any leftists by other labels, when he says that they believe that “government is a force for good.” This is the heart and soul of leftist politics, and it has been since the beginning of leftist idiocy. Government is God with a capital G in leftist ideology, and the purpose of their God is to control mankind because their God is good.
Never mind that control is an illusion, or that government is at best a necessary evil, that is always overreaching what is necessary. That pearl of reality and wisdom is out of the scope of leftist tunnel vision.
The faster we agree on this bit and devise ways of showing people that the opposite is the truth, not because the left is bad, but because they are naïve, and that there comes along people who are always willing to take advantage of their good nature, the better off we are going to be.
Government CAN be good, as long as it respects the governed. Does that look like the case today?
With the NSA listening in on their kiddie porn indulgence, even the left would agree this isn’t the case.

And not coincidentally, they just happen to constitute most of the government employees and positions of authority in the bureaucracy. They own the government and in turn are sustained by it. If they lose political control, they lose control over their comfortable livelihood and all their associated generous benefits.
In the final analysis, it's always about the money. As long as they're running the show, they are the beneficiaries of government largesse. They don't want Republicans coming in an messing up their cozy arrangement and interfering with all those big government programs that justify their jobs.
