“government is a force for good.”

***********

But ONLY when Democrats are in charge. /sarc

And not coincidentally, they just happen to constitute most of the government employees and positions of authority in the bureaucracy. They own the government and in turn are sustained by it. If they lose political control, they lose control over their comfortable livelihood and all their associated generous benefits.

In the final analysis, it's always about the money. As long as they're running the show, they are the beneficiaries of government largesse. They don't want Republicans coming in an messing up their cozy arrangement and interfering with all those big government programs that justify their jobs.

“...it’s always about the money.”

I agree that it is about money. The business of the left is government. Unfortunately, a lot of elitists Republicans who control the GOPe are no different. The big difference government holds between the two, including voters who divide up along party lines, is the role government plays in the leftist psyche. To many, not just our Democrats, but all leftists throughout the history of the left, government replaces, or supersedes family, God, church, community..., and to do so it must be(come) omnipotent and omniscient. Government must control our economy, our education, healthcare, our environment, religion, our diets, entertainment, privacy and thoughts, our Democracy and our elections....

When a fruitcake like Michael Moore says he would have been better off had a totalitarian government like Cuba controlled every aspect of his life, we mere humans are appalled, but to the leftest mind Moore was expressing a common longing for the comfort of more God in his life.
