The Washington Post released a lengthy article this weekend based on a survey of 819 veterans of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Buried deep in the article by Post reporter Rajiv Chandrasekaran, who spent two years in Iraq as the Posts bureau chief, is this bombshell:
When it comes to their most-senior commander, the vets decisively prefer George W. Bush to Obama. Only a third approve of the way Obama is handling his job, and 42 percent of them think he has been a good commander in chief despite his decisions to bring troops home from Iraq, wind down the war in Afghanistan and increase resources for veterans. By contrast, nearly two-thirds of them think Bush, who launched both wars, was a good commander in chief.
Their views of the two presidents appear to be shaped less by political affiliation than by concern over the Obama administrations plans to reduce the size of the military, trim benefits for future service members and curtail the purchase of some costly new weapons systems. Nearly half of vets regard themselves as political independents. Among those who identify with a party, the Republican-Democratic split is only 27 percent to 17 percent.
President Barack Obamas approval rating from the general public is in the lower 40th percentile according to recent polls.
Im betting that two thirds of those who prefer Obummer stated preference for The Great Leader Out Of FEAR of reprisal.
I don’t get the Bombshell part.
Yeah. If anything, the bombshell is that it’s 2:1 and not 4:1 or 8:1.
No kidding! Rules of engagement that don’t allow them to protect themselves. I think I heard that we lost more troops under El-Presidente in 5 yrs after the wars were pretty much won than we did in 8 yrs of Bush.
Loosing the wars we had already won.
Flaming homosexuals allowed in the military, and now pre-ops & cross dressers. Hey I’d really love to have to share a room with one of those, or take group showers with them!
Yes, it is a shock that more than 1% of the military support this guy.
I assume the ones who do support the Kenyan are Mooslame?
soetoro’s “down low” numbers kicking in. In the old days these opposition figures would have been a lot higher.
Obama knows that he is as popular with the military and vets as a herd of skunks at a dinner party.
That’s why he is purging the military of professionals and replacing them with bootlickers, faggots and other Obama voters.
The bombshell is that its 2:1 and not 4:1 or 8:1.
Even with everything Zero has done to pansify the military, this still translates to a 63% to 37% Republican victory in a straight party line election.
Remember when Stars & Stripes had Bush beating Kerry by a 7 to 1 margin in it's 2004 military poll? Ah, those were the days! :-)
Another bombshell:
Bush sucked too, and he’s the reason we have Queen Obama.
I prefer neither. Bush sent them to die for nothing, Obama gave their blood earnings away. Both Bush and Obama are statist. Both are out of control spenders. Both expanded Government. One left America worse off than he found it the other will finish the job.
both suck....
Well, there is that perception that 0bama left them hung out to dry in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the certainty that he considers them a proving ground for progressive social experimentation, and, as well, that he's a non-veteran who holds them in thinly-veiled contempt. That has to count for something.
Gee I wonder why? :-)
History will remember P resident George W. Bush as the conquorer of Baghdad. His disappointment to conservatives will not even be a footnote
People like you piss me off.
It’s no surprise to me. Having served with many of them, I know that they were not dippy libs when they came into the service and they were clearheaded about America’s enemies throughout their time served. I’ll tell our Putinista phony conservatives too that that’s not the predominant outlook of those who serve. Still, I understand how the weak in a prison will evolve to be catamites.
And many of Holder’s people.
I’d like to see the breakdown between combat troops (who generally vote republican) and “support troops” (who generally vote democrat.)
“People like you piss me off.”
You don’t know me so what you think about me doesnt matter. If you have an argument with what I said make your argument or ... just act like a liberal...
Being a Viet Nam Vet I know what being sent somewhere for bullshit is like...
