This incident is very similar to the one in California that happened a few weeks back:

Firefighter arrested by CHP after dispute at crash site

This fire chief in Louisiana sounds rather gutless.

Oh yeah. Most cops have common sense not to interfere with firemen and their work.

Those who don’t... wind up dead.

“no plans to discipline the officer”

Incredible.

On Wednesday, New Roads Police Chief Kevin McDonald claimed the fireman made a sarcastic remark to his officer when he asked him to move his truck, which is why he was detained. McDonald reiterated that he has no plans to discipline the officer.

Oh no! he made a sarcastic comment to the officer, mothers hide your children and lock the doors, there's sarcasm on the loose! Who let this panty waist that could'nt possibly have passed a psych exam on the force? I strongly suspect nepotism being involved.

the fireman made a sarcastic remark to his officer

There you have it: contempt of cop; lock him up and throw away the key any semblance of common sense.

Many years ago I knew a state trooper (former classmate) who was killed by a drunk driver crashing through an emergency call for a car fire. After that happened the policy changed such that any fire trucks on the scene were required to be parked as traffic barriers to protect emergency personnel.

What specific statute says sarcastic comments are illegal?

I don't know who this is but this made me laugh, or cry - whose police are out of control and which will soon make the former East German communist stasi state look like Toytown

Even they, some islamic country it seems, know our police are out of control???

We are seriously in trouble in foreign policy with this bungling dingdong as president. Seriously.

There is an update on that case.

Odd, it seems as if firefighters are getting a lot more “forgiving” than I recall them ever being. Was a time when arresting a firefighter on scene over a parked vehicle, while he was providing patient care, would have ended badly for Officer Incompetent.

Maybe I’ve just spent too much time around Irish fireFighters.

Stories like this illustrate why many states specify via legislation that Fire/EMS have control of emergency scenes and not the local ticket-pushers. Restraining a first-responder while said person is providing patient care is fifty-thousand shades of stupid.

Better not expect mutual aid or promptness when this officer needs them...

Note to firefighters: leave the Dalmatian home, otherwise your fire becomes a vicious dog attack-shooting by doughnut chomper.

Firefighters try to help. Paramedics try to help. Police officers, not so much.

What amazes me about this is it is not too far from where the idiot cops got themselves in trouble arresting the officials at a high school football game. Are the police there so insular that they did not even hear about the Covington incident?

I suspect this is going to end badly for the cop and the chief of police who is apparently to stupid to know in the calm light of day his guy was way out of line.

And the libs don’t give a second thought to let such people open carry...most of them are very poor shots (I’ve watched the at the range when they qualify). But give them a badge and any loonie can carry a gun...but I can’t?

Methinks that fire department will be slow to respond to any calls for help involving an officer’s house on fire or a dangerous car accident......
