California State Sen. Leland Yee and his campaign consultant Keith Jackson were arrested Wednesday alongside longtime criminal Raymond "Shrimp Boy" Chow during an FBI raid in San Francisco's Chinatown district that also netted several members of the Ghee Kung Tong gang.
The Associated Press reported that the federal charges, which allege the California lawmaker accepted money and campaign donations in exchange for providing official favors and helping broker an arms deal, cast harsh light on Chinatown's tight-knit network of fraternal organizations and one of its most shadowy characters, Raymond "Shrimp Boy" Chow.
Beneath the strings of red paper lanterns and narrow alleyways of the nation's oldest Chinatown lies a sinister underworld, according to the FBI criminal complaint that has stunned even those familiar with the neighborhood's history of gambling houses, opium dens and occasional gangland-style murders.
Investigators say Chow is the leader the dragonhead of one of the most powerful Asian gangs in North America. Chow's gang is said to have lured state Sen. Leland Yee into its clutches through money and campaign contributions in exchange for legislative help, as Yee sought to build his campaign coffers to run for California secretary of state.
Born in Hong Kong in 1960, Chow came to the United States at 16 and was reportedly nicknamed "Shrimp Boy" by his grandmother, in part due to his small stature.
After dropping out of high school, Chow rose within the ranks of the local Hop Sing Tong gang after he and his crew survived a 1977 shooting at a Chinatown restaurant that left five dead and about a dozen people injured.

Confucius say Shrimp Boy with Gun Does Take-out
Is he related to Lobster Boy? He definitely isn’t kosher.
Vely nice!
Boy is a demeaning epithet. Just call him Shrimp Chow.
Looks like the Chinese Mafia needs to study the Sicilian Mafia.
"Guess we're just gunna have to cut off Lee and Shrimp Boy's pigtails ain't we! And than hog tie all them scoundrel's up in the state capital."
I recall when some Chinese restaurants of 1990’s and earlier would give Fortune Cookies with some negative kind of prediction from time to time. A fortune I received around 1986 said, “Your lack of patience will impede your success”. Not scary negative, just realistic. Now, they play it safer. Happy Happy Joy Joy.
Shrimp Boy is more likely related to Pajama Boy. I know their cousins Bok Choy and Boy Toy. Family dinners are a hoot as no one can actually call to someone without a “Who’s on First” routine starting.
It even seeped into “Animal House” when Flounder said, “Oh Boy, this is gonna be fun”. Don’t know who Oh Boy was. Didn’t see him listed in the cast.
OY!
