General Motors has halted the sale of most of the Chevrolet Cruzes now on dealers' lots. The Cruze is GM's best selling U.S. car model.
Spokesman Alan Adler confirmed that GM has ordered a halt to sales of models with the 1.4-liter turbo engine, the most popular version of the compact car. Adler did not give the reason for the halt, and said there hasn't been a recall issued on cars already sold.
The news comes as GM deals with a damaging recall of 1.6 million small cars worldwide to deal with an ignition switch flaw that has been linked to at least 12 deaths.

This will force us to buy Volts.
Government Motors doesn’t want to give Ted Cruz free name recognition.
Why would any FReeper consider buying anything from Gubermnint Motors???
Stop. You made me laugh out loud in my office.
Even though he has a republican resume, the name is too tempting for Barry.
I underwrite auto loans for a living..can’t remember last time I looked at a Volt deal, unless they pay cash. Would love to see some sales #s, I’m sure they’re embarrassingly low.
I saw one on the freeway the other day, sucker!
Yep.
Sadly, there are a few who do and would.....
Someone was raving about their pimp-union-thug cadillac a few weeks ago......
You have to love GM’s marketing strategy.
“Let’s pull our best selling car off the market and not give a reason.”
ROFL
Gubmint not allowed to succeed.

Open an obamacare account and get a “free” Volt..?
How on earth can an ignition switch flaw lead to 12 deaths? Electrocution? Steering wheel lockup while the vehicle is in motion? Sudden electrical fire? That just sounds bizarre.
ha ha...that was MY first thought too! ;-)
You considered it?? I would consider it only if a hot babe in a string bikini was sitting on the hood but that’s as far I go...
If your ignition suddenly cuts out on a highway, turn, intersection etc. it would be very bad and potentially fatal, as 12 people dead attests to.
So the steering wheel locked up because the engine cut off? Must be due to the push-button ignition, the old manual key ignition switches won’t lock up if fully engaged, and it has to be in order for the engine to be running.
The only GM vehicle I’d buy would be a Vette. If I want a luxury vehicle, I’d buy a Lincoln.
My first thought as well!
get the new ford fiesta 3 banger 1 liter
gasoline and 40-50 mpg
