Rather than dismissing his contrary views as sour grapes, the media simply ignore César Chávez’s opinions that stray from liberal orthodoxy.
Chávez was a 1960s and 70s union leader who promoted unionization and Californian farm workers’ strikes. The farm workers of the time were predominantly Latino. He is particularly famous for the Delano grape strike: a five-year strike and boycott against Californian grapes. Liberals seized on this boycott, as well as several high profile hunger strikes, to promote Chávez as a symbol of immigrant and Latino rights.
Even today, prominent media outlets often praise Chávez, just as they lauded his movement during the 1960s. With the new biopic, “César Chávez,” being released on March 28 ahead of his March 31 birth date, immigration activists have once again begun invoking his legacy.
However, Chávez reportedly compared La Raza to Hitler and called for increased enforcement against illegal immigration but liberal media outlets ignore these statements while using his legacy to promote their own agenda on immigration and identity politics.

When Chavez was running the grape boycott, Young Americans for Freedom used to buy grapes and stand outside supermarkets putting them in people’s grocery bags. Nice, effective, visual.
One more reason that we need to revitalize YAF — it drove lefties crazy.
It can encompass three parts - (1) Young George Washington from birth up to the French and Indian War, (2) Washington during the American Revolution, and (3) Washington as President up until his death.
Such a trilogy would easily gross a billion dollars.
Kinda ironic isn’t it. Chavez was against illegal immigration and Richard Trumpka is all for it. ?????

I started thinking about it again the first time I saw an ad for the new movie.
I’m hopeful for the new Revolutionary war series “Turn” coming up on AMC.
I was with that group in the eighties and was one that put grapes in [people's bags! I did not care much for the way Chavez was trying to unionize. But I put this article up to remind people that liberals hate it when you show their hero's had conservative ideas one agrees with.

After his training with Alinski, Cesar’s work was trying to organize Filipino farm workers in Oxnard, California. The Mexican farm workers were willing to work for less, so they were cutting into his action. Most of his “conservative” rhetoric came during that period. About 15 years ago, the city of Oxnard decided to “honor its Latino population” by making Cesar’s birthday a paid holiday for city employees. It seemed a little odd to honor a guy who spent a lot of time trying to get Mexicans sent back to Mexico, but to the Oxnard City Council, the myth was more important than the truth.
Say what you will César Chávez did for his people.
Scratch that, it was in the seventies when I was part of Young Americans for Freedom, I was in high school. Lord, getting old!
Yeah, but if they can make Noah an environmentalist wacko, imagine what they can do to Washington.

Chavez has been beatified to sainthood by the liberals. Anyone who dare tell the truth about Chavez will be burned at the stake. Chavez was nothing moren than a money hungry thug nsulated by a media that worshipped him. I had friends in Kerman (Fresno Area) at the time. Chavez sent his goons to beat up the field hands ( on temporary work visas from Mexico) and threaten the farm owner. Chavez and his crew went ballistic when the farmer plowed the crops under. Chavez hated the Mexicans unless they were in his gang. Now, his name adorns every street and school where crime is rampant and the full failure of liberalism is on display.
AMC did a helluva job with the "Hatfields and McCoys" three-part series in 2012.
He definitely had some socialists leanings, I remember well.
He knew the obvious.
That illegal immigrants will work for less, MUCH less.
And that it would really hurt American Latinos who worked the fields.
I wonder how the movie will portray him.
Scratch that, I KNOW how the movie will portray him.
And it WON'T make any sense.
You can't pay union wages when there are illegals who will undermine that for pennies on the dollar.
