Is it a Russian custom? Or is it weird?

Is it a Russian custom? Or is it weird? Was can't it be both?

I used to kiss my father on the cheeks and he returned the favor. Between men, its a demonstration of affection, a friendly greeting. There is nothing sexual about it. Its much warmer than the handshakes and hugs that painfully limit American men. In Russia and Slavic countries, its expected you kiss family and friends to show your feelings towards them.
