A Navy F-18 fighter pilot and former Top Gun instructor is publicly warning admirals that retention is beginning to suffer from the militarys relentless social conditioning programs.
Cmdr. Guy Snodgrass, until recently a Pentagon speech writer for the chief of naval operations, Adm. Jonathan Greenert, said sailors are becoming fed-up with the constant emphasis on social issues an apparent reference to gays in the military, women in combat and ending sexual harassment.
Sailors continue to cite the over-focus on social issues by senior leadership, above and beyond discussions on war fighting a fact that demoralizes junior and mid-grade officers alike, Cmdr. Snodgrass wrote this month on the U.S. Naval Institute website, an independent forum for active and retired sailors and Marines.
It is a remarkably frank assessment from an upwardly mobile fighter pilot who is due to become the executive officer of a F-18 unit in Japan.
He says one troubling sign already has emerged: a drop in applications to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis last year.
The U.S. Navy has a looming officer retention problem, Cmdr. Snodgrass writes, adding there is an erosion of trust in senior leadership.
He says retention racked up its worst year in history for the special warfare community, including Navy SEALs, with a record number of lieutenants declining to stay.

Casey said: I think thats something that we have to look at on an individual basis. But I think we as an Army have to be broad enough to bring in people from all walks of life.
The bottom line is the military benefits from diversity, he said.
Our diversity, not only in our Army, but in our country, is a strength. And as horrific as this tragedy was, if our diversity becomes a casualty, I think thats worse, Casey said.
Obama’s one success story...
Just as Obama planned. He and Valerie knew exactly what would happen. Also helps to dump the top brass.
Who wants to fight for this crap anymore....all the country has come to is ABORTIONS and GAY SEX!
Who in their right mind would accept Bammy as their Commander in Chief?
Yep, another feather in Obama’s cap.
I’d be getting out, too, and heading for some commercial right seat.
Mission accomplished.
The leftist and emasculating social engineering of everything that made and preserved this country.
Hey, Obama, you got your wet dream. You POS.
The next CIC needs to order dishonorable discharges for ever fag and lesbo in the military and put women in their place to restore our military might.
USAF is bombarded with the crap too. Even DOD civilians have to attend the classes. It used to be optional and only mandatory for supervisors who had active duty in their sections.
I haven’t seen any homo related training yet. Will advise if I do.
Very perceptive.
This then strengthens the argument for a civilian force equal to the military, like Obozo told us back in 2008.
"No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country."
More Patton, less Dr. Spock!
UNEXPECTED! /sarc
Putin smiles.
The two Fortune 500 companies I worked for had diversity campaign posters. One read, “Strength and joy through diversity.” An in-house magazine ran a multi-page article about the communist “labor hero” Eugene V. Debs. A document we had to sign said we could not discuss anything “inappropriate.” I barely avoided being written up for a conversation with a machinist who made his own guns for a conversation at lunch. It was overheard and the HR manager took offense.
All of this is going on because the military contracts require diversity and they’ve pretty well defined it as something similar to living and working as a Soviet communist who is afraid to speak any of their own thoughts.
Oh, my last company forbade any mention of religion under any context. Several people kept a tiny cross on their desk which I interpreted as a silent protest.
“Come on Sailor, suck it up,” just doesn’t have the same meaning as in my day ...
The Balkans have lots of diversity.
Doesn't benefit them at all.
