Well, I could say it serves the NCAA right.

That will leave a mark. Now watch high schools get even more sports-centric. We already have one around here. A certain school that has a 3-1 ratio of boys over girls and if you are on the baseball team (they have 3) you can do no wrong.

The Girl’s Vollyball players are employees too. They can Unionize and get payed. They just can’t play Vollyball in the NCAA.

In a stunning ruling that has the potential to revolutionize COMPLETELY KILL college athletics, a federal agency said Wednesday that football players at Northwestern University can create the nation's first college athlete's union.
There, I corrected it for them!

Well, one would be hard put to argue that they are all diligent students with a priority of earning a degree. Looks to me like some people use the university as a step to going pro, and some universities want them to do just that, because it is more fun and profitable to have a winning team, especially when you don’t have to make a serious attempt to educate the players.
I am torn about college athletics. You kind of need a football game, or there is no reason for a half-time show (my favorite part). But the whole thing is way far away from the goal of educating students, and a real student who also likes football is never going to get a chance to play for his school.

Gee, which socialist asshat to side with, the NCAA or the NLRB.
Might be a good popcorn moment.

The decision by a regional director of the National Labor Relations Board means it agrees football players at the Big Ten school qualify as employees under federal law and therefore can legally unionize.I do not think that this matters a whole lot. In my opinion the "high water" mark for football took place last year.
Do not know whether the decline will be fast or slow.

Ok NCAA rules say college athletes CAN NOT be compensated or they are not eligible to play in the NCAA (which is the only game in town). So what will there be for the union to negotiate? If a college breaks down and pays their players, they get kicked out of the NCAA, essentially killing their football program.
