...uncertain what Romney would have done differently...I know ONE thing "Romney would have done" for certain:
Round about thirty seconds after he'd been sworn in, the entire damn MSM would have launched all out total war on him.
...and continued harping at him, his family and anyone, anyplace who dared speak of him as anything but unworthy to continue in office (or breathing, if you read between the lines).
(If you think that defeating lib politicians is going to cure any problems, you've only got ten percent of the targets in your sights.)

***Where*** do they come up with those names? Magic mushrooms? Why don’t the kids get the names changed in court? Can you imagine being in a job interview in HR, or having a bldg ID badge with one of those on it? Argh!

Yesterday, I was on the phone, after hours of attempting to get through, with a government worker to process a payment owed to me.
When I got through to her...you could tell it was a her, and through her mannerisms and talking, you could tell she was from the ghetto, I said my payment has not arrived. She said it was mailed out March 4th. I said, No, I haven’t received anything, and I really need the money because I have been counting on it for a month.
She hung up on me.
If I am dealing with a medical issue and some government worker hangs up on me, look out!

i don't know why people are shocked at this - i always assumed all the bits that flow are sucked up - clinton massively expanded ‘eschelon’
i thought we had an agreement with england to hold the data on us (since its illegal for us to spy on us) and we returned the favor for them by holding the data on their citizens

If Romney got out of control, like Bathhouse Barry-boy, we could have impeached and removed him, and the lib-dems wouldn't have interfered. Then Ryan would have become POTUS... well, maybe that's good/not good. ANYONE (almost) would have been better than what we've had for these past 5¾ years.

Rush, that caller about ELTs and Under Water Beacons is wrong about ELTs and Line-Of-Sight Receivers.
ELTs are monitored and their geographic location is identified by SATELLITE monitors as well as ground based radio receivers.
Even more that 350 or 450 miles, we would have an automated alert on an ELT going off after 3 seconds.

If past history of Boehner and Company is an indicator, they would have been off the reservation with him. They have a history of backing GOP Presidents’ bad ideas because of that GOP label. Yes, it likely would have been better, but only because we might have ended up less off course.

Rush, look at this and know that
MH370 had the newer, updated ELTs.
Beacon Operation
GPS-based, registered
The most modern 406 MHz beacons with GPS (US$ $300+ in 2010) track with a precision of 100 meters in the 70% of the world closest to the equator, and send a serial number so the responsible authority can look up phone numbers to notify the registrator (e.g. next-of-kin) in four minutes.
The GPS system permits stationary, wide-view geosynchronous communications satellites to enhance the doppler position received by low Earth orbit satellites. EPIRB beacons with built-in GPS are usually called GPIRBs, for GPS Position-Indicating Radio Beacon or Global Position-Indicating Radio Beacon.
However, rescue cannot begin until a doppler track is available. The COSPAS-SARSAT specifications say [7] that a beacon location is not considered "resolved" unless at least two doppler tracks match or a doppler track confirms an encoded (GPS) track. One or more GPS tracks are not sufficient.
High-precision registered
An intermediate technology 406 MHz beacon (now mostly obsolete in favor of GPS enabled units) has worldwide coverage, locates within 2 km (12.5 km² search area), notifies kin and rescuers in 2 hours maximum (46 min average), and has a serial number to look up phone numbers, etc. This can take up to two hours because it has to use moving weather satellites to locate the beacon. To help locate the beacon, the beacon's frequency is controlled to 2 parts per billion, and its power is a hefty five watts.
Both of the above types of beacons usually include an auxiliary 25 milliwatt beacon at 121.5 MHz to guide rescue aircraft.
So the ELT would have been heard and after 3 seconds, a satellite would have generated an automated report on its location, that it would have send an immediate and urgent notice on.
Someone would have responded to that location immediately.
