[D]enial of Communion is not an option that MAY be chosen. It is MANDATED by Canon 915. No bishop, priest, or other minister of Communion is free to disobey Canon 915, for the simple reason that the action Canon 915 forbids is ALWAYS gravely sinful.
It needs to be emphasized that Canon 915 is NOT a canon that may be applied or not applied. Canon 915 can only be obeyed or disobeyed. And disobeying Canon 915 is always gravely sinful.
Canon 915 exists precisely because giving Communion to a person obstinately persevering in manifest grave sin is always gravely sinful. Doing so is always to give grave scandal, and to participate knowingly in a sacrilegious act.
Let that sink in. Always gravely sinful.

The great mass of Catholic bishops in America sits, like a great, inert blob--while a leading Cardinal, Wuerl, makes repeated, lying statements about the moral law and Canon Law, pretending to have the authority to punish priests who obey Canon Law and the moral law.
And what is the PURPOSE of all these lies? To ensure that Nancy Pelosi, and other "ardent Catholics" like her, may continue to march up the aisle and make sacrilegious, scandalous Communions.
How many bishops in the U.S. actually worship God, rather than Nancy Pelosi? Perhaps a dozen.
What can awaken this great, inert blob to its DUTY? Well, in the case of sexual abuse, $2 billion-worth of lawsuits did wonders. But that doesn't seem to be a tool available to pro-life laity.
Anyone who looks to a bishop for leadership is in for a lot of disappointment.
The political problem and service to oligarchy is at the center of all forms of organized religion. Organized religions are just that, organized.
I just don't understand Catholicism. Why would I have all these men between me and my LORD?
Perhaps you should study it. From CATHOLIC sources. Most of what Protestants believe about the RCC is simply wrong.
"Why would I have all these men between me and my LORD?"
Catholics have no more between them as individuals and God than you do. Less actually, if you really understand Catholic doctrine.
I suggest reading the "Catechism of the Catholic Church" (the full original, not the dumbed-down summaries).
Personal note. I "swam the Tiber" about six years ago. Best thing I ever did.
Cardinal O’Malley of Boston was cornered a few years ago, and asked about Denial of Communion for pro-abortion politicians.
EVERYTHING he had to say about it was political. He said that the bishops’ conference had to be united. Nonsense. He said that the bishops must avoid, at all costs, appearing to be picking on one political party! Nonsense!
What he NEVER did was address the REAL question: Is giving Communion to pro-abortion politicians a SIN?
That is the ONLY question any bishop really needs to answer. And the answer is YES.
Antinomianism is a moral disease, with which all but about a dozen American bishops are infected. All the others consider the wearing of red or purple to place them above the moral law, divine law, and canon law.
