The Supreme Court 'Sounds Ready' To Throw Out A Controversial Part Of Obamacare
Yahoo/Business Insider ^ | 3-26-14 | Brett LoGiurato

The Supreme Court sounded "ready" to throw out the part of the Affordable Care Act that requires certain religious corporations to offer employees contraceptive coverage, according to a report in The Los Angeles Times.

The court's conservative justices were sharply critical of the provision in the law. The women justices, meanwhile — liberals Elena Kagan , Sonia Sotomayor, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg — defended the law, according to the Times.

Justice Anthony Kennedy, a swing voter with a libertarian bent, told U.S. Solicitor General Donald Verrilli, who defended the mandate, that his reasoning " would permit requiring profit-making corporations to pay for abortions."

The rule at stake under the health-care overhaul is a provision in the ACA that requires all new health insurance plans to pay for contraceptives. The issue is whether for-profit corporations — in this case, the lead plaintiff Hobby Lobby Inc. — can refuse to provide all or some contraceptive services.

The USSC isn't going to do anything about the "free birth control" provisions of Obamacare. Roberts will see to it that it's "clarified" that Hobby Lobby and other companies can pay the penalty tax instead of providing their employees insurance at all, and call it a day.

That's where the Obama Administration gets what it wants: A big company to point at and say "See! It's all those greedy wealthy businessmen that are taking away your insurance, it's not me!"

Then all Hobby Lobby's employees will get enrolled in Obamacare at highly inflated prices for little to no coverage. Obama and the Democrats will claim victory over "big business" and have their issue for the 2014 elections.

Republicans will of course then wet their pants, cower like sissies and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in the 2014 mid-terms.

Mark this post. It's true. You can already see it coming.

Remember the last time the USSC "signaled" their disapproval of something? We all thought Obamacare was dead in the water based on their "signals" ... then what happened? It got re-written as a tax with penalties and was upheld as Constitutional.

I'm telling ya, trained apes or monkeys could do a better job than this USSC.

Why are you defending that man? He’s not being blackmailed, he’s just evil.

Exactly!

After Roberts’ decision on Obamacare being a “tax”

Despite the years of political speeches by democrats "it's not a tax, it's a penalty".

Like they sounded to get rid of the mandate? I will believe it when I see it happening.

I find that my nervousness about just about anything that comes before SCOTUS is being assuaged. As I posted earlier, the subject matter for amendments proposed by the Convention of States is very hopeful in neutralizing (nullifying?) some of the arbitrary, dictatorial, oligarchy feel of SCOTUS.

As their website states,

"A Convention of States can propose amendments if 2/3 of states submit applications for such a convention. These applications must all deal with the same issue (i.e., limiting the power and jurisdiction of the federal government)"

...Article V gives states the power to call a convention for the purpose of proposing amendments to the Constitution. By calling a convention of the states, we can stop the federal spending and debt spree, the power grabs of the federal courts, and other misuses of federal power. The current situation is precisely what the Founders feared, and they gave us a solution we have a duty to use. After the states propose, debate, and vote upon the proposed amendments, they will be sent to the 50 state legislatures for ratification. Three-quarters of the states must agree for any of the proposed amendments to be ratified. Congress has no authority to stop such a process."

God bless America and may we succeed in this.

I object: not all the judges on the supreme court are political hacks.

I have a bad feeling about Roberts. Someone got to him on obamacare, I’m sure the same ordeal still applies. He has to remain loyal to obamacare.

I just posted the SAME THING! (before I read this comment)

Whew! Good to know someone else sees it. I was thinking my theory might be a little crazy and too far out there.

Unless YOU’RE crazy, then well... I’m back to square one. :)

Some thought Paul Revere was ‘crazy’ warning of the British.
Others later thought Senator Joe McCarthy was ‘crazy’ warning of the Communists. Appearances can be deceiving.

Can’t Roberts be impeached?

Over 30 major changes to this law, probably unconstitutional. I don’t see how it can hold up.

That result is highly doubtful. I don’t know who would initiate it, maybe the Senate. The Supreme Court always has the option of saying, Judge Roberts cannot share with the public what brought him to this conclusion. Such a demand would ‘compromise the integrity and the appearance of neutrality’ of the Supreme Court. Were it only a quick walk to impeachment and/or removal of a Justice, nothing would stop the left from wasting valuable court time in trying to destroy a truly conservative decision maker. The Judge under question would be tried and convicted in the court of public opinion. The faux outrage and viral firestorms are easy to foment and manipulate because they’re dealing with folks who think with their emotions vs the patterns of logic, cause and effect.

Well, while we certainly know how the three feminazis and their equally radical male cohort (Breyer) will rule, I trust judges Scalia, Thomas, and Alito to do the right thing. Yet it always comes down to the remaining two, Roberts and Kennedy, leaving those of us who love and cherish our Consititution and individual liberties feeling terribly uneasy.

Honestly, I hate the fact that this branch of government wields so much power to decide enormously important societal and cultural issues that so greatly impact American life. Furthermore, it scares me immensely to think that if we don’t get another conservative Republican president in office soon and one of the conservative justices were to retire due to health reasons or pass away, the statists are in a prime position to appoint a fifth radical left-wing justice to the bench, therby securing an air-tight majority necessary for full-throttle advancement of their evil communist agenda. It’s frightening stuff.

They had their chance to toss the whole POS last time this came before them. Thanks to Benidict Roberts, we still have to deal with it. Also, thanks to the dumbed down 52% of the voting public that inflicted obama on us TWICE. They are the ones who are partly responsible for this mess.

Don't worry, Obama's organizers still have time to get to Roberts.
