It's not clear why a group of high school girls lashed out at Temple University students Friday, but, with five girls in custody, police are hoping to get that answer soon.

Five girls, ranging from 14 to 17 years old, turned themselves in to Central Detectives today, Capt. Frank Banford said. The girls came forward after seeing news reports about a series of three attacks near Temple's campus Friday night, one of which left a female student bruised and bloodied after being hit with a brick.

"They saw themselves in the video, and knew that sooner or later, they would get caught," Banford said.

I’ll send my old alma mater some money if they promise to pay for some serious weapons and have people who are willing to use them.

Interestingly, when I went there in the 60’s, there was relatively little vicious assault crimes against students at Temple, unless you got off Broadway by a few blocks. Then you were a targetted robbery victim (my teammate got mugged. Never got a chance to use his fencing weapons on them. John, you should have had a sabre in your hand).

Today it’s open hunting season on whites in particular, and students in general.

And Mayor Nutter the Nuts says “It’s Bush’s fault”.

I believe Temple U has one of the largest police forces in Pennsylvania. The natives are getting restless because the campus is starting to expand.

I've heard Temple is in a dangerous (i.e., black) part of Philly.

I find the term: “lashed out” very annoying………..When did that come into vogue.

They didn’t “Lash out”, they beat the crap out of a girl.

Nice how the lead paragraph says “bruised and bloodied,” when the injuries are a fractured jaw and displaced teeth, requiring oral surgery to stabilize.

Wouldn’t want to upset the good citizens with graphic details. Minor injuries, an inconvenience really, you can stop reading now.

It didn’t just leave some girl bruised. She lost a few teeth when she was hit with that brick.

Attacks like these should be considered automatic attempted murder, because the person doing the attack is doing it without regard to consequences to the victim.
