Mitch McConnell: IMF part halts Ukraine bill (McConnell undermines Cruz, then takes his position)

Legislation to aid Ukraine and punish Russia will never become law if it includes reforms to the International Monetary Fund, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday.

McConnell supported a procedural vote to advance the Senate’s bill aiding Ukraine on Monday evening, but he said it is fruitless to proceed any further without Democrats relenting on IMF language requested by President Barack Obama. Continue Reading

“This bill in the Senate cannot pass the House or become law in its current form. It has to be amended,” McConnell said. “The controversial IMF provision must be removed. This simply cannot be a take it or leave it situation. That’s just nonsensical.”

McConnell also blasted Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s contention on Monday that Republicans have sent the wrong message to Ukraine by holding up Senate action two weeks ago, when the two parties deadlocked on attempts to quickly pass Ukraine aid legislation before breaking for a congressional recess.

“The majority leader seems determined to blow up the process, too. Yesterday he actually came to the floor to effectively blame Republicans, believe or not, for the invasion of Crimea. I mean, who writes this stuff?” McConnell said. “It’s just completely unhelpful.”

House Republican leaders said Tuesday that they would a vote this week on bill to place sanctions on Russia — legislation without the divisive IMF language.

Look at the sly and misleading game McConnell is playing. Ted Cruz was building a filibuster in an attempt to remove the IMF language from the bill. McConnell helps Reid get the bill through cloture WITH the IMF language. Now McConnell says the bill with the IMF language won't pass.

He's playing his "hope yes, vote no" game again. If the IMF language is pulled to get the aid bill pass, McConnell wants the credit for it, not Cruz, he undermined Cruz so he can smile to himself in his office later, he helped his buddy Harry Reid, and he undermined the House of Representatives.

This man must be removed from power. He is a conniving, backstabbing, scheming prick!

“This man must be removed from power. He is a conniving, backstabbing, scheming prick!”

Sadly we could say this about 60% of our legislators and be right on the money.

Mitch McConnell is a VILE, SLEAZY, DISGUSTING, ANTI-AMERICAN CREATURE who just voted to advance yet more legislation that further surrenders American sovereignty to “Internationalist Powers”. And then the duplicitous creature has the gull to say he is against the legislation he had just advanced.

DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THIS SNAKE IN THE GRASS!!

“DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THIS SNAKE IN THE GRASS!!”

There are people here on Free Republic who STILL think McConnell would be a better choice than the democrat in November, just because he has an “r” next to his name.

I contend that a freshman democrat is far less dangerous than a 30 year oligarch who has been consolidating power in the position of Majority Leader, which he is two elections away from gaining!

Old Tortoise Head is a real jerk, but he is in his position because he knows all the ins and outs and how to play these games. Unfortunately for us, he uses them on people on our side instead of the democrats.

I agree—this declared enemy of the Tea Party and its values MUST go this year. While I would prefer it to be in the primary I would love to see him defeated EVEN IF IT HAS TO BE IN THE GENERAL ELECTION WITH HIM RUNNING AGAINST A DemocRAT.

It took me years to reach this point, but I am now here. I have persuaded some Kentucky relatives to embrace this view also. I fully expect the self-centered Mitch McConnell to not be in the US Senate (other than possibly as yet another sleazy lobbyist) come January 2015.

Ukraine owes money to Russia - BIG TIME. Putin can and will pluck it, along with all the money it has anytime he wants under this stupid moron in the White House. Alternatively, Ukraine will simply pay it over to Russia to cover their debts.

We should not provide Ukraine with anything but military hardware if they want it.

Meantime, we should move as many NATO forces as possible into Eastern Europe, move the missiles in there as Bush suggested, and form a strong military alliance with eastern European Countries.

Forget the western Europeans. They are worthless.

Meantime, we should support whatever opposition exists in Russia and in the event we are lucky enough to see another real Democratic government there, ally ourselves with them also - militarily and economically.

But! But! A democrat might win his seat! You wouldn’t want that to happen. It’s your duty as a good Republican and conservative to vote for whatever nominee the Republican party heaps upon you regardless of your morals and political convictions...

I really hope Palin jumps in here in Kentucky and endorses Bevin against Snitch the duplicitous dirt bag.

If Midge gets re-elected, he’ll feel even more empowered to continue on his progressive RINO path.

The fact that he undermines Sen Cruz and NOT the Dims, is telling.....Hello, KY!!! Wake up!

If he were to lose to the Dim, that would at least be a(nother) wake up call to RINO’s, everywhere.
