The church plant I am involved with is pastored by a Liberian Pastor and most of the families attending are refugees from the civil war in Liberia. The Pastor and his wife still have two kids awaiting entry into Canada. Canada has approved their immigration here, but they just need the final stamp to come to Canada. I pray that they have not been infected with ebola. The family has lost so many relatives to the civil war. Like many Liberians, they sought refuge in Conakry, Guinea, living there for almost ten years, where he took a small church and built it into something that was attended by thousands.
Years after the war, there is still no sewage system or electrical grid in Monrovia. From what I’ve seen of Monrovia on the internet, Detroit would be like Park Avenue. Very sad because I’ve seen pictures of the city before the civil war and it was a relatively modern city.
LOL!!! Great response!!
Somebody else can post the pics..I have to leave.
If there’s a major outbreak, Obama and dems will never have power again in our lifetimes. That stuff where democrats don’t do anything beyond steal to give to their voters won’t go over well if they’ve killed millions of us...
Interesting. There are other hemorrhagic fevers, I wonder what the Conacry virus is? Rift Valley? Marburg? Not as bad as Ebola but nothing to take lightly.
From the BBC report linked in your post #52:
“Guinea is also currently grappling with epidemics of measles, cholera and meningitis.”
But I agree with prior opinions that it’s best to reaction as though this person had Ebola until PROVEN otherwise; “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
Frankly, name anything of value that has come out of the sub saharan dark continent.
Yep, Ebola is just a small price to pay for inclusion and diversity /sarc
I remember reading “The Hot Zone” when it first came out, back in the early 90s.
Horrible thing, this Ebola.
Hope they get a handle on it fast and clamp it down.
Don’t have a smartphone. Don’t need a smartphone. Don’t care about smartphone. And wish people would get their noses out of their smartphones for 5 seconds to notice the real world out here.
That book scared the bejeesus out of me. It was also a good read!
It's not called "The Dark Continent" for no reason.
Lets just say I hope she is wrong because I have a young family.
Same here. The implications of that thing going airborne, from the Reston Monkey House...
Potential catastrophe on the level of the Black Death in Europe over the centuries.
The fact there is a possible case as close as Canada is terrifying. I wonder if it is as virulent in colder weather? I am going have to do some reading on that.
RE Canada:
Hopefully, they’re taking it as seriously as the monstrous thing that it is, and jumping with both feet on it.
(Yeah...I know... that doesn’t give me a great deal of peace of mind either).
I have no idea if cold climates affect it... good question.
I went and downloaded The Hot Zone on my kindle. I will read it again.
People want a horror story, this one qualifies.
