They are just applying the existing ... age limits. That's all.

On this point. Yet another in a series of poorly thought out statements.

When Snus (a salt-cured form of dip) were banned in Europe, it was because it was believed that they would serve as a gateway to smoking (they couldn't ban it on health reasons, since the health effects of Snus are negligble). The never-right do-gooders were adament, saying that removing Snus would lower youth smoking. Not only did that not happen, but the reverse happened. Youth smoking increased, while youth smoking in Sweden and Finland, which still allow Snus, plummeted. It is reasonable and logical to conclude (a process you may find unfamiliar) that Snus is the best preventative known to man for youth smoking (and not by a small margin, either). Yes, it's even better than the scary pictures on cigarette packages, age limits, or for-profit advertising campaigns.

Here's your choice: you can have your feel-good age controls, and accept a high level of youth smoking. Or you can follow the light of reason, reject them, watch youth smoking decrease, and marvel at how the "gateway" effect was all one big self-serving lie.

I know that, for myself, had ecig's (or Snus) been available when I was young, there is not a chance in the world I would have ever become a smoker.

When I was in middle school we had an epidemic of snuff use. Every other pair of jeans would have that characteristic circle in the pants pocket where the snuff container was kept.

And then we had an epidemic of mouth cancer.

A buddy of mine at work tried using e-cigs to quit chewing tobacco. I didn’t think it would work, but it DID!
