To who? Who has the legislative power to put an end to this? Local? State? Federal?
Yes, yes, and yes.
The real way to defeat this is to defund law enforcement and the courts. No other way is as effective. Money IS power.
Each state can control this by passing appropriate laws for the state and local agencies within its boundaries.
Congress would have to pass laws regulating federal agencies. I assume, however, that the vast majority of such cases are state/local.
I think it’s the courts. I have found no provision in Texas or Federal law for a “no-knock” warrant.
“Who has the legislative power to put an end to this? Local? State? Federal?”
Say hello Mr. SWAT member to Mr. .30-06 Springfield and his brother .308 Winchester. Lights out and Big Dirt Nap.
The local Sheriffs can start arresting the SWAT Team members, but few will actually do it.
The authorities in the local, state and federal governments have been getting *encouragement* from the taxpayers to give the police more money, more power, and more “toys”.
All in the name of “safety”, “fighting the terrorists”, “fighting the war on drugs”, etc. The Official Excuse differs in accordance with the political leanings of the voter.
When the voters, by and large, reveal they will not stand for this any longer, then, only then, will government employees pay attention.
