Workbook teaches kids that Second Amendment includes gun control

A social studies workbook, used in an Illinois public middle school, is generating controversy among gun rights supporters because it claims that the Second Amendment permits only strictly regulated, registered gun ownership.

A screenshot of the workbook was first posted to the Facebook page for Illinois Gun Owners Rights. It provides the following description of the Second Amendment:

It doesn’t matter who approved it. The fact that Leftists are in control of our schools tells me that entire generations of children are going to be indoctrinated to believe that gun rights don’t exist or are seriously curtailed. When they get older, and a school shooting or mass murder happens somewhere, the media will parrot the gun control lines, and these kids, now young adults, will wonder, “I thought that’s how it always was? Just do it!” At which point, gun rights will be stripped wholesale without so much as a whimper. I pray I’m long dead before that day comes.

Other than home schooling (which we did), we combat this crap by making sure sons and daughters, nieces and nephews, and all their little friends get some quality range time with .22s and tin cans.

As written, I don't believe the 2A could be interpreted as saying anything about "certain" weapons, saying anything about registration, or saying anything about prisons.

Maybe they are using the rules in Illinois. However, if they are they should not use Second Amendment to explain it, but say, this is how the Second Amendment works, but here in Illinois, we do it this way and explain the state law. That would be the fair way to do it, but of course, liberals don’t play fair.
