Lawrence Walsh, the Iran-Contra special prosecutor, died two days ago at the age of 102. American liberals adored Walsh in life and now sing hosannas to him in death.
Lawrence E. Walsh, a former federal judge
who as an independent counsel exposed the lawbreaking in the Reagan administration that gave rise to the Iran-contra scandal, died on Wednesday at his home in Oklahoma City, said the lead in the New York Times. Walshs admirers, reported the Times (no doubt one among them), saw him as a model of rectitude, a public servant trying to uphold the rule of law and demonstrate that even powerful government officials were not above it.

Excellent article about Walsh. I was only in my mid 20’sw when this happened and always thought they were out to get Reagan. The weekend indictment against Weinburger the weekend before the 1992 election puts Walsh clearly in the partisan camp.
Mark Levin had a few choice words about him the other day.
Walsh destroyed many patriots and attempted to destroy President Reagan all for the purpose of a partisan witch hunt implemented by Democrats and the MSM.
They made a mountain out of a molehill all because Reagan actually took action to free American hostages.
To read the accolades of the MSM on Walsh made me sick to my stomach as his sole mission when investigating the Iran-Contra strategy was to destroy not only President Reagan, but Cap Weinberger, Pondexter and even Ollie North.
Walsh being a Republican, apparently in name only could have utilized his position as Independent Council to exonerate these fine men, but instead went against what was good for his country and his party to destroy these men.
The impact of his betrayal to his country and party is still felt today, just as it was when his actions threw the 1992 election to Bill Clinton and that election not only lead to the election of Obama in 2008 but the possibility of Hillary being elected in 2016.
If I wrote here what I would call him, I’d get banned.
I forgot all about that. I remember Walsh as a slimy weasel. Disgusting little reptile like humanoid.
There was no lawbreaking in the Reagan White House in connection with the so-called “Iran-Contra Scandal.” I don’t know of any in any other connection, either.
In response to treasonous, unconstitutional misconduct in congress, the administration tricked an enemy into helping a friend.
No laws were broken.
Congress was foaming at the mouth at having been thwarted so gracefully, and, together with their accomplices in the media, tried to convert an exercise in statecraft into the sort of crime with which they are so familiar—being a loathesome pack of serial felons themselves.
Luckily for the country, Oliver North and President Reagan stood tall and threw it back in their faces.
The last of a dying breed.
He was a maniac and out of control. But, I miss the days when we dared try to hold our rulers accountable.
I NEVER thought I’d think this, but, we were a better country when Walsh and Frank Church and genuine, obnoxious opposition press made life Hell for the Nixon/Ford/Carter/Reagan administrations.
Now, the King has lovely finery.
Walsh was a model of rectitude in the sense that he was a major league rear orifice.
Instead Poindexter was let go on appeal to help develop the data mining systems which would ultimately be used by the NSA to spy on all Americans.
At first I thought the title mentioned Lawrence Welk!
“...we were a better country when Walsh and Frank Church and genuine, obnoxious opposition press made life Hell...”
Unfortunately, that ‘opposition press’ only made life Hell for Republicans. They always did their best to cover for any Democrat in trouble, and do to this day.
Dan Rather brought the long time NYT leftist columnist Anthony Lewis on to the CBS Evening News during the first 5 minutes to high-five the indictment that he so expected would defeat Bush who had punked him on his own show. It was unheard of in those days to have an undisguised opinion purveyor in that role
I can remember Walsh as an asshole, Lt. Col. North a hero, and Fawn Hall a real hot and efficient secretary.
Correction, Walsh was a model of rectumhood.
Thanks for giving us Clinton. Enjoy Hades!
simple answer.... despicable . The man purposely made a political decision to indict people on the eve of an election on trumped up phony charges...The man was a weasel pure and simple
He was a pos and your opinion is right on.RIH.
Good riddance as far as am concerned. The world is a better place.
That’s my point. They even stopped bothering the Bushies. It’s all a big club who call themselves “adult” and don’t rock the boat.
