Thom Bell had teamed with Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff in forming a specific kind of sound for Philadelphia Soul. Bell was eventually to produce the Stylistics, the Spinners when they left Motown for Atlantic, Dionne Warwick and Deniece Williams. This was his first major success as writer and producer.
