The United States is dissatisfied with Defense Minister Moshe Yaalons clarification that he had not meant to insult the U.S.
"We still have remaining concerns about Ya'alon's pattern of behavior," State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters on Friday.
The United States harshly criticized Yaalon this week, over his remarks that the United States shows weakness in various arenas around the world, including Ukraine, and has a soft approach over Irans nuclear program.
In fact, Secretary of State John Kerry personally protested to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu over Ya'alon's strong criticism which the U.S. saw as trying to hurt U.S.-Israel relations.
Later, Yaalon phoned Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel and clarified that his remarks were not meant to insult the United States.
Apparently, however, Yaalons clarification to Hagel was not sufficient for Washington, as Psaki said that the U.S. was waiting for Yaalon to issue an apology.

It's not an insult.. if it's the truth.
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
I’m having trouble remembering us asking for apologies when Muslim leaders including the Palestinian Authority including our supposed allies call us every name in the book.
I heard he was sending a My Little Pony backpack to the aggrieved party.
The metrosexuals’ wittle feelings were hurt. Truth can do that.
Yes, it is.
I am Moshe Yaalon!
That going be long while LOL!
The truth hurts, eh? /spit (and not at the Israeli Defense Minister)
Many of us are still waiting for the kenyan to apologize for saying our GOP Reps were going to make him choose between sick kids and poor kids.
To which Israel should respond: "We still have remaining concerns about Obama's pattern of behavior"
Jen Psaki is soooooo intimidating, isn't she?
She needs to buy a vowel.
She needs to buy a clue.
Maybe Israelis are getting tired of apologizing to the thinskins in DC. Freedom of speech, ya know? Remember that? Maybe no.
The US isn’t waiting for anything. Ketchup face and KenyaBonga may be.
Unlike Americans, citizens of foreign countries like Israel have the luxury of being able to criticize the American president without having to worry about having their taxes audited.
Americans should be grateful to Mr. Ya’alon for giving us the vicarious pleasure of telling the truth about our weak president.
The US wants to humiliate an ally in a way it would never dare to treat an adversary.
And who really wants the US as a friend?
With “friends” like the US, who needs enemies?
Kerrystein is just pissed because he thinks that it's Oblowmee and his job!
The secretary told reporters " I was just standing there when Ya'allon just knocked the crap out of me" The wound was more severe than the imagined wounds in Vietnam
