Obama walks the talk on Ukraine, 'as we said we would'

Washington (CNN) -- It must have been at least a little satisfying Thursday for President Barack Obama.

He had repeatedly warned Russian President Vladimir Putin against annexing Crimea from Ukraine, threatening tougher sanctions aimed at the Russian economy.

Following the Russian parliament's vote to approve the annexation, Obama made a previously unscheduled appearance before TV cameras to essentially tell Putin: I told you I'd do it.

"These are all choices that the Russian government has made, choices that have been rejected by the international community, as well as the government of Ukraine," Obama said. "And because of these choices, the United States is today moving, as we said we would, to impose additional costs on Russia."

Have to admit that Obama does have a lot of experience in inflicting costs on people and destroying national economies. Don't know if it will apply in this case, though. Unless he can talk the Russians into voting for ObamaCare or destroying their own oil & gas industry. Don't think his pen and phone will work quite so well over there.

Russia knew it was coming.

And the cost of annexing Crimea? A mere 20 officials sanctioned who won’t get to go on vacation in America.

Only Obama would call that tough punishment. To the Russians, its an inconvenience.

The Russians are scratching their heads about these “Sanctions”, while CNN (Now run by the guy that wrote Obama’s Styrofoam columns speech, while Prez of NBC Entertainment) is in God-like praise of “the Won’s” greatness.
