Been seeing Common Core ads on TV (”teachers” talking about how great Common Core is - kids will learn a lot and be prepared for college) ..... the logo at the end of the ad is just plain “creepy” and reminds me of something the artsy types would come up with for Obama. It’s a blue hand with stars on it and smeary red lines to the right of it. What’s weird, I haven’t been able to find a pic of it online.

That does sound creepy. Sort of a failed artist’s fusion of occult, politics and an acid trip.
My sister, who is a teacher and a hard-core leftist union member, despises CC, but mainly for a reason that is actually quite reasonable: it makes teachers no more than mouthpieces for whoever writes the standards.
