U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) will appear with former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) and Gov. Bill Haslam (R-TN) Wednesday at an education roundtable discussion sponsored by pro-Common Core Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Tennessee Business Roundtable.
A press release by the election campaign of Tennessee state Rep. Joe Carr (R), who is challenging Alexander in his reelection bid, announced the fact that Alexander will join Bush and Haslam in support of the Common Core.
The roundtable event comes in the midst of a fierce battle waged by Carr and other conservatives in the Tennessee state legislature to roll back the Common Core standards.
On March 15th, Breitbart News reported on the battle in the state House that resulted in an 82-11 vote to delay the controversial standards for two years.
The vote was a rebuke of Haslam and Education Commissioner Kevin Huffman, who have argued that Tennessee must move forward with the Common Core standards in order to keep up with other states. Haslam told state lawmakers that a repeal or delay of the standards would be a disruptive and costly endeavor for the state as well as the districts, schools and teachers that have been implementing the standards for some time.
Two days after the state Houses vote, Williamson County Schools Director Dr. Mike Looney tweeted a comment that referred to Common Core opponents as irrational.

The only common core here is the core of total and absolute stupidity of the whole education system. Maybe they need to look at our world ranking in education and start teaching instead of dictating.
Jeb Bush -> CommonCore -> more *Compassionate* Conservatism?
JOE CARR FOR SENATE!
Lamar is an idiot. He called himself the Education Governor when he ran Tennessee.
The only reason Lamoderate has a legacy as governor is because when you replace a Felon Pardon Selling Governor there is no way to go but up.
By their actions, you shall know them. These ‘conservative’ statists are perfectly happy with central planning despite infinite evidence that it does not and cannot work. Why? Because those who get to do the planning get to rake in the graft. The Federal gov’t has no Constitutional business to be involved in education whatsoever. Common Core will be a Pandora’s Box of disaster for liberty much as the EPA and OSHA have been.
two more to cross off my list.
That does sound creepy. Sort of a failed artist’s fusion of occult, politics and an acid trip.

If it were indeed stupidity it would not be so infuriating and frightening. But is is, in reality, an evil and deliberate instrument of leftist propaganda.
My sister, who is a teacher and a hard-core leftist union member, despises CC, but mainly for a reason that is actually quite reasonable: it makes teachers no more than mouthpieces for whoever writes the standards.

That’s actually a good description .... now if I can just find a picture of it!
Come on people they agree with us at leas 80% of the time, we have to win elections before we can govern, yada, yada, yada.
You forgot “If you don’t vote for Alexander you support Harry Reid.”
Yea our US Reps aren't all that bad for the most part but our history of U.S. Senators from both parties 100% stinks. Same for the governors office. It's bad when Taxquist-RINO replacement a DEM was far more a fiscal conservative than him. It's worse in Corker's last election the DEM challenger ran hard right of him on all issues. That was my first and likely last vote for a DEM for U.S. Senate.
