Fred Phelps Sr., the former head of the Westboro Baptist Church, died late Wednesday night, according to a family member.
Phelps' son, Timothy told 13 News that his father died just before midnight. Timothy Pheps works at the Shawnee Co. Jail.
Ironically, another son who is a member of the church, attorney Jonathan Phelps told us Thursday morning, "Pastor Phelps is doing just fine." That, of course, could have been a spiritual reference.
Over the weekend, we learned that Phelps was reportedly "on the edge of death."
In a statement on his Facebook page, Nathan Phelps, who has been estranged from his father for 30 years, said the senior Phelps was dying in hospice care in Topeka, Kan., and that he had been ex-communicated from his own church in August of 2013.

He was the clown prince of the gaystapo movement (knowingly or unknowingly).
Sure, the crossbones and skull flag. Judgement day looks pretty bad for this dude. They will probably cremate him to get the furnace effect going sooner. Death should have come sooner before all the hardships his groups put on military soldiers who died and their families lamenting while they boycotted.
The un-named, but still remembered thief on the cross might have a different take on that. As would Enoch and Elijah.
“pounding his pud?”
It took 58 posts to get that graphic up? We’re slipping.
Fortunately our local leaders persuaded the mostly Christian and primarily Southern Baptist population, to just ignore the three or so people who “protested”, and not even the local radical atheist contingent, again totalling about three individual weirdos, were able to muster much media attention to their “event”.
Many people were quietly added to the TEA party column that day.
The Phelps family political operation is now widely understood to be a Democrat agitprop group, and unaffiliated with any form of Christianity.
Hey, I'm a primitive gal.
Gotta find myself a gurrrrrrrrrrinal spout, heh.
Before you visit, drink well.
“When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices, And when the wicked perish, there is joyful shouting.” (Proverbs 11:10)
Yep...Lots of love in this thread...
I wonder if the Patriot Riders will go and protect his gravesite funeral service???
I hope the local FReepers git out there and give him and his family a nice send off...
I am certain God has a very keen sense of humor, and for the record, his judgment is final!
I guess we leave it to him to decide if being stoopid and just plain ole mean is an unforgivable sin...
Something I bet those family members of his are probably thinking about right now...
Funny how they never protested at Gay Pride Marches.
Thanx for the great idea. I’m building an outhouse that will be painted as Obama’s health care facility. Sort of a retreat for the “yes we can” crowd. ExLax dispenser on the door. The Red cross on the door will be sideways-—more of an X. As soon as I can find a surplus urinal I will indeed bolt it on the side of the outhouse-—no waiting for the guy inside. Should speed up respect-payers.
Thanx again but I almost hurt myself when the vision hit me.
That begs the question: Does a soul’s entry into the netherworld feed the fires of Damnation (exothermic reaction) contributing to Gorebull Warming above; or, does it mitigate the raging Inferno at all (endothermic), thus merely resulting in “Climate Change” here ??
Sounds like a great idea! Hope you will post pix when the project is done.
