If Putin remains anti-American, he need not worry about Obama
Jewish World Review ^ | 3/19/2014 | Caroline B. Glick

Just before Russian President Vladimir Putin orchestrated Russia's takeover of Crimea, the US's Broadcasting Board of Governors that controls Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty announced that it will be ending its broadcast to Iraq and the Balkans next year.

And this makes sense. As far as the Obama administration is concerned, Iraq ceased to exist in 2011, when the last US forces got out of the country.

As for the Baltics, well, really who cares about them? Russia, after all, wants the same things America does. Everything will be fine.

As Obama said to Governor Mitt Romney during one of the 2012 presidential debates, "The 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back because the Cold War's been over for 20 years."

During the election, Obama was famously caught on an open microphone promising President Putin's stand-in Dmitry Medvedev that he would have "more flexibility," on missile defense after the presidential election.

He asked Medvedev to ask Putin to give him "more space" until after November 2012.

With a five-and-half-year record of selling US allies like Poland, the Czech Republic and even the Syrian opposition out to please Putin, it should be obvious that Obama will do nothing effective to show Putin the error of his ways in Ukraine.

Obama doesn't have a problem with Putin. And as long as Putin remains anti-American, he will have no reason to be worried about Obama.

Got you. It just seemed to me a little odd that they are so eager to shed the blood of our children over there when we have more than enough troubles of our own to keep us busy.

After the cold war ended, Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty became cultural Marxist propaganda outfits pushing the Soros agenda for Eastern Europe. They also became cash cows for neocons who used them to give jobs to their followers. The plug should have been pulled on these agencies back in 1991.

You’re right but only to some extent. It’s quite obvious Russia has its own geo-strategic interests. However, have you ever heard Putin publicly say anything bad of the U.S.? Did he do anything that directly (I mean directly) harmed the U.S.?

He’s helping Iran get nukes. That’s definitely harming the U.S.

As I recall Putin lamented seeing the US making the same economic mistakes the Bolsheviks did, and tried to tell us that it won’t work.

Obama certainly hates America, at least as we have known it. But that’s completely irrelevant to the discussion.

That rascal Puty-Poot has got to be put in his place, don’t ya know? First he snatches Georgia back from the West, then he flummoxes Obama on Syria, then he gives asylum to Snowden, and then he out maneuvers the West over a trade/political alliance with Ukraine - just too much. I thought the West won the Cold War? Wha’s going on?

Or if we’d just let him rebuild the Russian empire in the Soviet image he’d have no need to be anti-American. But then, if you can be ideologically supportive of a KGB thug, then why be pro-American at all.

BINGO to this article!

The whole leftist mantra is that our enemies are great guys, our allies are skunks.

I despise everyone who permits this pos leftist government to operate without explaining to the American people what it means on all levels.

There is a lot more to what Russia is doing than just building Iran’s bomb. They’re working in tandem in many ways and I doubt that it even matters to the Putinistas here. They’ll cheer Putin if he helps Iran nuke America, such is their self-loathing for their own country. Sad. Perhaps partly understandable with the hate Obama has spewed at us, but this is where we are today. Many of these people would gladly be quislings for Putin.

“I thought the West won the Cold War?”

Clinton threw the Cold War to the Russians. The same way that Congressional Democrats threw the Viet Nam War to the North Vietnamese. The same way Obama is throwing the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to the Muslim Brotherhood.

Clinton even declared a “Peace Dividend” to start dismantling our military.

Apparently, after WWII, the US Left vowed that America would never win another war.

Russia is helping Iran build a bomb.

Big deal. Iran can never use them offensively since their entire country would be turned to glass in retaliation and become a pariah state. And for what? Their handful of nukes couldn't destroy all the USA or Europe. They couldn't even take out of all Israel and the tens of millions of Jews outside of Israel would hunt down every last Iranian if it took a thousand years.

On the list of dangers to the USA Iran is like #295. Number one is the Globo-Marxist in the White House.

If I was in the Baltics, Poland or any other country that used to be part of the Soviet Union or bordering it, I would be scared sh^^less over the immediate future.

If they're worried, it's not reflected in their military budgets, which are all less than 3% of GDP. (Israel spends 6.2%, has fended off 3 all-out Arab invasions during its history and has only needed American material aid once). During the Cold War, European military budgets were around 5%. Obama's basically an appeaser, but appeasement is occasionally a good thing. The overgrown children who run Europe need a smack on the butt to remind them that they're not all speaking Russian today mainly because the Russians were deterred for over 40 years by American military power. The EU has a bigger economy and population than we do. It's time they started taking care of their own defense. Europe's head-in-the-sand isolationism is unhealthy, but the impending Russian invasion of Ukraine might just be the wake-up call they need.

The American public's unwillingness to get involved in Ukraine - even to provide material aid - is merely its response to the giant middle finger that Europeans extended to Uncle Sam over Iraq and Afghanistan. It is becoming clear that what we have aren't allies, they're military dependents. If Europe doesn't see Russia as a problem, I don't see why we should.

As I recall Putin lamented seeing the US making the same economic mistakes the Bolsheviks did, and tried to tell us that it won’t work.

Given that Russia has a European-style welfare system, a Tsarist/Leninist political system, where political opponents are killed and a combination of revanchist and irredentist dreams of universal empire, it's unclear how Putin is in any position to warn anyone about Bolshevism, which is anyhow mainly about starving tens of millions to death in order to kill off segments of the population opposed to the central government. Russia's the one with the problem leader - Putin's about to follow the footsteps of Napoleon and Kaiser Wilhelm II, by leading his country off the cliff into a disastrous war. The difference today is that if a nuclear conflagration results, it will lead to the end of Russia as a geographical, political and linguistic entity, as its neighbors rush in to exact their revenge for centuries of humiliations and massacres at Russia's hands.
