But they don't hate Russian people. The Russian govt YES they hate it

Sometimes it is a distinction without a difference. This was always the Communist line--we love the people, not the government. Now if the people would just rise up and get rid of that bad government, we can have peace and harmony. In fact, we (the Communists) will help you get rid of that government.

Perhaps in some cases. But let me give you live examples here in Warsaw. German speakers are always looked at with some suspicion -- the atrocities conducted by their ancestors are marked on every corner. Russians not so much. Russians who toe the party line of "Russia liberated Poland, you should be grateful" are pitied as victims of brain-washing rather than hated

This is a big difference. Most Poles see Russians as victims of their own government and see the Soviet atrocities as conducted to the main by people abused by their own government (except of course the KGB and UB).
